'15 CO PG Austin Conway (Verbal to Wyoming)

Tad and Rick had a little conversation with MikeMac. I like it.

Would love to have this kid in the fold for both football and basketball. It's starting to look like he won't be much more than a solid bench guy in the P12 in basketball at best, but with his speed, that's a valuable asset to have. Would love to have him locked up.

Would be cool if Mac was willing to let him play basketball, but if he became a starter at a Pac-12 level in football, lot of coaches would be hesitant on that.

Have we ever had a 2 sport athlete at CU before?
Alfred Williams played for the Buffs basketball team against Kansas once. Another football player suited for that game as well, but I cannot recall who it was at the moment.

Wasn't there a basketball player who flirted with playing TE on one of Barnett's teams? I can't remember the name though.

I'm thinking it was Stephane Pelle. Can't remember if he ever did, though.

Rodell Guest was who I was thinking of. Thanks Superior...

We used to have a bunch of FB players who ran track in spring.

Who was the small TB prior to Speedy (Cortland Johnson?) who placed at the Big XII finals and went to the Nationals?

So what position are we recruiting him for? At 5'11 I think he may be too short for QB at this level, but his speed and vision are beyond anything we have on the roster right now.

Athlete. Most folks are projecting him as a CB, but that will work itself out.

Two sport athlete : Kelsey English, middle blocker Volleyball; also on T&F competes in the high jump and does pretty well.

Re: '15 CO PG Austin Conway

Why bother playing football if he is a top 100/50 talent in basketball?

That right. Ernest Renfroe (sp?). Good dude, and sure looked like a football player, but I don't remember if he actually ever got any time.

Going strictly from memory (dangerous at my age) I think that they wanted to play him but couldn't because of scholarship limits.

At the time he was practicing with the team we were at the scholarship limit of 85. Those logical, simple to understand, and student-athlete focused NCAA rules designate that if a student who is on scholly for any sport plays in a football game his scholly counts as a football scholly, if a athlete in any other sport on scholly other than football participates in a basketball game his/her scholly counts against basketball since these are the primary revenue sports.

Had we been under the limit for FB Renfroe would have seen the field.

He would be solid addition to both teams. Not sure if the Football team can have enough CBs with his speed. Even if all he does is practice with Bball he helps them as well. Based off what I have seen him in Bball I think he could get PT there as well.

Not saying he would be as good in either sport but he could be a guy similar to Charlie Ward who was at I think FSU. Played the season on the FB team took a week or so to rest and transition then became a nice mid-season addition to the BB team.

He would count against the FB team as a scholly and that would be his first responsibility but there is no reason why he couldn't do both if the coaches of both sports were okay with it.
