Booing at the Utah Game

Brian Howell's article in today's Daily Camera said "a portion of the crowd was booing the home team." My sense was that the fans were getting nervous but it didn't feel like the fans were turning on the team. Did anyone hear fans around them booing the Buffs? The refs did a poor job overall and I certainly heard them getting booed. My sense is that either the writer wasn't at the game, hasn't gone to enough games to understand the game and the fans or there were actually some fans lame enough to be booing the home team.

I didn't hear any boo's other than the ones directed at the refs

I heard it too (and participated in it). It was completely directed toward the officials. That crew was ****e.

Not for sure but believe the head official was the same guy who called off Chen's shot in Tucson last year.

Wife and I just discussed this -- I think booing was directed at ref's, based on timing and tone (and we would both share our very judgmental opinions if we thought Buff fans were booing the home team).

I thought the ref's called the game fairly equally and were at least consistent in not calling fouls that a lot of ref's would. It kinda looked like a B1G officiated game, but IMO the calls weren't notably biased one way or the other.

When askia had that shot waved off at the end of the shot clock, it was obvious he banked it without hitting the rim, a good portion of the crowd was changing sabatino haha.

There were boos simultaneously with that TO referenced by Howell, because UT mugged the Buffs' player who turned it over, w/o any foul called. XJ was run over a couple of times with no call; that crew really sucked! And no, they weren't even handed.

Wrong. Dead wrong.

I didn't feel like CU got home cooking. That's not the way things generally go in college hoops. For example, in that UA vs Cal game the Cats also had to overcome the refs if they wanted to win. I don't feel that way a lot of times when CU plays at home in Pac-12 games.

Other than that, I didn't think the officiating was unfair. It was just bad, though. Again we watched a crew be inconsistent, make some calls completely wrong, try to cover their ****-ups with make-up calls, and come damn close to losing control of the game.

I agree with most of this. The officiating was horrible. It was just bad. There was no consistency, no flow, nothing. It was the typical P12 officiated game. I did think CU got a touch advantage on the whistle (I'd say 60/40 on the bad calls), but when I re-watched the game last night, the announcers made it seem like CU got EVERY call and Utah was getting screwed.

So, apparently, CU-Utah not only gets the G Team officials, but the G Team Announcers.
