Watching Dom and East Play Highlands Ranch in the Great 8 state tourney

The game is tied at the half 23 all and Dom has 15 of East's points. Kid is amazing and is the comets packag e. He is keeping East in the game with steals and buckets from outside and drives to the basket. He is going to be fun to watch in a Buff uniform

Here with the oldest to watch Mountain Vista take on Eagle Crest next! Go Vista Nation!

East wins 64-44 and Dom goes for 32. They will be playing Friday in the Keg against Overland. If you are not going to the Pac 12 Tourney and CU is not playing, it is a great chance to see Dom and what he will bring to Boulder and the Keg next year

And our football prospect Austin Conway plays basketball for Overland, if I'm not mistaken. Could knock out a few birds with one stone. My current roommate used to play QB at Overland and said Conway is extremely fast.

De'Ron Davis plays for Overland as well. I think I'm gonna go check that out, would be great to see Dom face off against Conway and Davis in person.

If Dom doesn't get a rating bump, then... well I'll be slightly irritated.

If you're expecting a big ratings bump, probably will be disappointed. His performance on the AAU scene is likely to trump what he does in Colorado.

Still, great to hear he's been the best player on the court

Was at the game as well. Dom has unreal handles; the crowd had several 'ooos and ahhhs.' Nice shooter with more of a right shoulder set shot. Will have to get much much stronger to play pac12 level guard play. Gets into the lane and finishes nicely with finger roles. Tried to throw one down off a breakaway and was rejected by the front of the rim. Definitely has the ups but just didn't make it on that on. If Dinwiddie returns I would re-shirt him. He did put East on his back when they needed him. 20lbs of muscle would be nice.

This is right on. He does need some bulk but he is absolutely the real deal. His moves are silky and he is damn quick. He anticipated the passes and made several HR passes look like they were intended for him. He was in the spot before the HR kid and just picked it.

That attempted dunk was pretty funny. I think he was a bit winded and took off too early and hammered the front of the rim.

Vista won their game and knocked off last year's State Champs Eaglecrest. They will face Fossil Ridge in the other semi final game. Should be a fun final 4.

There's no way we take the most hyped CO prep since Chauncey and redshirt him

Would be cool to see a massive group of CU fans at that game to give Son some props and throw a few words of encouragement the direction of Davis and Conway.

That's a stretch. And I don't pay too much attention to the trajectory of top100 kids, so maybe a redshirt would be unusual. We have tons of depth though.

Collier isn't redshirting outside of injury

Dom is the highest rated recruit from Colorado only if you consider Josh Perkins to be a West Virginian.

True. But I think he said "most hyped". Dom is going to be a 2-time Gatorade POY in Colorado.

Nik, how do you project the trajectory of Collier at CU?

If Mayor doesn't come back, I think he's our starting PG next year. He'll be a 4-year guy unless his body fills out like Spencer's did. (Make sure you quote me on this at some point to make me look like an idot.)

I'm still of the opinion that Talton will be hard to beat out as a Junior. No knock on Dom at all, as I think he'll be a great 4 year player for CU. I just think there will be an adjustment to Pac-12 basketball.

I can definitely see more progression with XT. But his handle really makes him a "2", not a "1".

What I want to see from XT in the offseason:

1. Improve his FT shooting (that will get him on the court in endgame situations).
2. Improve his handle (will get him more minutes & endgame minutes).
3. Hit the weights so he can body up big guards and finish in traffic.

I'm more of this opinion re: Collier.

Dom is going to have a lot less adjustment than probably any CU player possibly ever. He's played high level AAU and played on the USA dev team. There will be an adjustment, but not like some of the other guys.

personally I think Dom sees a lot of time just b/c of his ability to get to the rim, that's not something Talton can do (21 shots at the rim all year, made 8). Right now when teams play zone there isn't the guard play to attack the gaps and make people collapse, Dom should be able to help with that.

I agree with much of this, but think a lot of that is confidence related. I do think he has improved from some of his awful turnovers earlier in the season, but handle could get better like you say. Figure he'll add a few pounds in the off-season.

Personally, I think if Dom gets decent playing time it is more because of his defense then his offense.
