bruce pearl, under an order to show cause, and with one of the most scandalous resumes of cheating in modern college history, has been hired to coach at auburn.

auburn got the playbook down with the cam newton saga:

1. deny everything, no matter what.
2. obstruct the investigation.
3. threaten the ncaa with litigation if they can't come up with 100% proof of wrongdoing.
4. continue to do whatever the **** you want, whether within the rules or not.
5. win. big.
6. laugh at the ncaa as it cowers in the background without acting.

since auburn exposed the ncaa as a nutless bloviating empty bag of impotence, they and the other rogue schools are free to do whatever they want, provided they follow the model above.

bruce pearl. they aren't just laughing at the ncaa; they are pissing on them on them.

You'd have a hard time finding anyone more hated and shunned by fellow coaches. Pearl is a snake who will never change.

The show-cause expires in August - which would be before the 2014/2015 season begins.

he's under the OSC right now, which is what i stated in my OP. his status in august is germane how, exactly? unless you think that somehow mitigates some negativity from this hiring decision? and, in that case, i would suggest you're far too focused on a tree limb to see the entire forest.

The NCAA is ridiculous. We all agree with that.

Pearl was disciplined because he hosted a cookout for some recruits, and lied about it. Thus a minor violation turned into a major violation. The guy who prosecuted him for the NCAA is now the assistant athletic director in charge of compliance at -- you guessed it -- Auburn.

Auburn wants to win. They've showed that time and time and time again. They hired a guy who has proven he can win. They're not the first program to hire a coach with a questionable background, nor will they be the last.
