During his first two seasons as the head coach of the Colorado soccer team, Danny Sanchez never worried too much about the goalkeeper position.

Annie Brunner held that spot throughout the past two years, and really for much of the past four. After placing her name throughout the CU record book, however, Brunner has graduated.

Now, Sanchez and goalkeeper coach Jason Green find themselves looking for someone new in net.

"We'll have competition everywhere, but I think goalkeeper will be the most hotly contested position," said Sanchez, whose team went 14-7-2 last year, while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

I like an awful lot about our squad this year if we can find leadership and solid play in the net.

My guess is that it's going to be the transfer that gets the job. I haven't watched her play, but she seems at the very least capable of being a competent goalie.

My bet is on Kate Scheele as well. She proved herself at Colorado College and they have a solid program (they are competitive at the D1 level).

When I found out she was coming to CU I thought she would be transfer CU really needed as Brunner was very reliable, thus they now have an experienced player in the nets. Without her CU would have had no real experience in the nets - Tillitt did play a few times last season, but never faced any real pressure and Watson is a true freshman.
