Projected Starters

Gary Payton II - More of a SG than a point, but the Beavers don't have many options.
Langston Morris-Walker - The only returning starter from last year's squad.
Victor Robbins - May be the Beavers best offensive threat.
Jarmal Reid - Started 17 games as a frosh, but fell in rotation last year.
Olaf Schaftenaar - A stretch big man who can shoot but leaves the Beavers weak in middle.

"Wait 'til next year" is going to be a common phrase around Corvalis this season. Because they're going to suck this year. But with Wayne Tinkle at coach - and a potential top 10 recruiting class coming in (some of whom aren't even related to the coaching staff) - they're going to be dramatically better next season. This year is all about avoiding dumpster fires and blowouts. There's really no sugarcoating this one - the Beavers are going to be bad. This is Utah's first year in the Pac-12 levels of talent bad. That said, like Utah, they hired a good coach who should have them rising in the ranks over time.

Worst team in the conference, but I think they avoid finishing last. Tinkle can coach.

Ahead of WSU or ASU?

Agreed on Tinkle, but man...that roster is BAD.

Ahead of both. OSU in 10th. They'll play at a glacial pace, which will keep things closer than the talent should allow. And then they'll pull out a few in the final 4 minutes because we have some teams that are, frankly, kind of sloppy and inconsistent.

I can't rule it out (both WSU and ASU are pretty horrid themselves), but man, if that happens Tinkle gets COY. Their best player (Morris-Walker) is a guy who would get spot minutes at best for us.

And Pachoops had the question of the day yesterday at media day.

"Coach Tinkle, what does your brother-in-law do?"
