BOULDER – The University of Colorado women’s soccer team travels west to California to face No. 4 Stanford in its final road match of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

Colorado is 10-4 overall and 3-2 in Pac-12 play. CU has won two straight after road victories against Oregon State and Oregon last weekend.

The Buffs will look for their first win over Stanford in program history. Colorado is winless in five meetings against the Cardinal. Thursday’s match will be the third time CU has played at Stanford’s Laird Q. Cagan Stadium and first time under head coach Danny Sanchez. The Buffs’ last trip to the Cardinal’s turf was in 2011.

The match will be televised on Pac-12 Networks. J.B. Long and Krista Blunk have the call. Live stats will also be available on cubuffs.com.

Match Notes

Please note this will only be available LIVE this evening via Pac 12 network ON THE WEB unless your cable/ satellite provider gets Pac 12 Bay Area, as it looks like that may be the only Pac 12 channel showing this match live. (With Pac 12 Mountain being "shared" with Utah, it's showing the Utah football game that starts an hour after this soccer match begins.)

It does look like it will be replayed on Pac 12 Mountain- I see it on Friday at 1:00 PM (MT).

These seasons go so fast. It's hard to believe this is it for road games this year for VB.

(Hopefully we'll get some neutral site games down the road, though.)

I haven't been paying close attention, but 9 minutes in and it looks like a lot of back and forth at midfield.

The last few minutes have been all Stanford on the attack, but it's still 0-0

Yep- A couple dangerous chances for Stanford at ~12 minute mark, but no great save necessary, and one more just now.

Still 0-0 ~19 minutes into the first half.

Hogg with probably the Buffs best chance but it was plucked away by the goalie before she could get to it
0-0 25 minutes in

A couple random points from the announcers-

1) Coach Sanchez going for his overall 300th career win and
2) CU has never beaten Stanford.

The Buffs have actually have had a couple decent balls in recently, but no one there to receive the balls.

Stanford gets on the board first with a header that just goes over Scheele's head for a 1-0 lead

Stats showing Stanford up 8-0 in shots at the half, with only the goal being a shot "on goal".

From the way the camera points, looks like there are very few people there. However, it looks like Stanford averages 1375 per game, so assume most of the fans are on the same side as the camera, so aren't visible on TV.

Play of the day by Stanford. Buffs header toward open net for goal was headed away at last second by Stanford defender.

Tough match for the Buffs, but Stanford is clearly a much better team and they battled hard. Need to put it behind them and prepare for the Washington schools next week.
