Mayor makes NBA debut in Denver tonight

Good for the Mayor, I'm happy for him!!!

but......

LET'S GO NUGGETS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a buddy who is a Pistons fan and I told him I wouldn't be surprised if Dinwiddie plays this year when they drafted him. It's like that game against Oregon St last year, he's too mentally strong to let people down.

Screw the western conference. The Nuggets look to have a solid, competitive year and they may finish 11th. The Pelicans look nasty.

Looks like Dre will get his first start against the Blazers tonight. Wonder how big Durant going down will be for him.

I'm so 'meh' on the NBA in general and the Nugs in particular, I'm contemplating passively rooting for the Pistons this year - better that then trying to follow the Jazz / Burks or the Thunder / Dre.

And by 'rooting' I mean catching 5-6 games this year. I'll watch some tonight and see how it goes...

I'm so meh on the NBA that I don't think I've watched a game in its entirety in like 7 years.

Spencer put in around the 3 minute mark in the 1st. Has a big knee brace on, but doesn't seem to be having trouble running the floor.

He played a pretty solid eight minutes, some of it with the starters. Missed one shot, passed up a few opportunities. One assist and one foul. He had some trouble fighting through screens on D and gave up a couple of points. Easy to tell that Van Gundy likes him. He's going to get a lot of play this year.

Weak response from the Denver crowd when he came in - I'm sure 90% of them don't even know who he is.

Roberson starting, Copeland starting, Burks killing it, Dinwiddie playing despite expectation of a missed season. My goodness.

Not great stats, but Roberson played 35 minutes last night - most on the team.

Dre shot 75% and picked up 7 boards. Not a bad first game.

He looked good, too. Body is filling out. Main thing for him is figuring out what his role is in today's NBA. I think he's got to develop a 3pt shot and become a Bruce Bowen rather than a Dennis Rodman.

The problem I see with him changing his game too much, is that as soon as KD comes back, Dre's role changes drastically.

No it doesn't, especially if he can develop a three-point shot. He's becoming their lengthy/versatile defender who will match up on the other team's best wing player so Westbrook and Durant don't have to work hard on that end of the court. If he adds a moderately reliable three-point shot, he becomes even more valuable when Durant is on the court. Lamb will take some of his minutes when he's healthy, but he's going to play a lot for them.
