Arizona State to Launch D-1 Program

Time to build a hockey arena on the hill between Coors and 28th St where the outside courts are currently located.

I assumed this was about Arizona State finally adding division 1 academics. I should have known better.

Would be cool to see CU follow suit, doubt that happens anytime prior to a $32M donation

As much as I'd LOVE to add varsity hockey at CU, it would take a miracle to have that happen. So many things have to happen first, and so much money would have to be spent in order to get the team established and properly equipped with competitive facilities. Figure the CU AD still has about $300MM in facilities upgrades it wants to get done at "some point" in the future. It'll take generations to get that money raised.

This is awesome. I give ASU huge props on this move. More and more you see kids from non-traditional hockey states making it big. I played with a kid who was born and raised in Huntsville, AL and he made the NHL and scored a playoff goal. He's now playing in Europe. Anyways, it's not uncommon to see kids from Florida, Texas and California who are making it big in hockey these days.

I would love to see this catch on at other Pac-12 schools
