Walton is awesome. I would rather listen to him call a game than just about everyone else, love the random tangents and random facts he brings up

Love him.

Most times I watch a basketball game, the color commentators bring nothing and I could just as well watch it on mute. There are exceptions to that. Vitale brings a passion for the sport that is pure fun (whether you are tired of his schtick or not, he's been a treasure for college hoops). Knight and Fraschilla know more about basketball than just about anyone and teach so much during a broadcast (while not pulling punches on refs, players & coaches) that it takes the broadcast of the sport to a higher level. Walton, to me, combines both of those things. His passion for the sport is clear, but he also educates on the game and calls people out when their play or coaching or officiating is doing the game a disservice. Plus, as I've said before, if basketball ever had a rain delay you'd want Walton to be the guy telling stories to keep you entertained while you waited.

This conversation seems to come up every year but is good.

I enjoy him. What he is talking about may have nothing to do with the game but is usually interesting.

When he does talk basketball it is usually at a higher level and more interesting than most commentators, he doesn't just spout the same type of cliches.

He is also highly biased but is open about being biased. I wouldn't want to listen to him every night but he is fun on occasion.

He's great. It's unique and adds color to the game. He's a color commentator. He and Pasch have great report.

Where's the "I love him and I will ****ing stab you if you disagree" option?

Used to hate him, but indifferent now. I do remember getting a good laugh when he called Michigan's 'Fab 5' a bunch of overrated underachievers right before the tourney started their sophomore year.

Love him. He's entertaining, and makes me feel extremely sane in comparison.

Love him and he loves Boulder. Told great stories when he was calling a CU game. Be nice to him.

He's good for a laugh and I don't think I could truly hate Bill, but he's nearing the Berman end of the schtick spectrum to where it's not only tired but it seems lazy and annoying. His constant pumping of UCLA/Arizona is tough to take on a Pac-12 broadcast.

I had no idea this poll would end with this many people liking him. I generally find him entertaining, but sometimes annoying, so I put indifferent.

I guess the 13% that hate him are an extremely vocal minority.

All I know is that you should watch out for Nic Cage with Bill Walton, because the man is a national treasure.

I remember a couple years ago Bill was doing a game I was watching, and the only reason I watched the game was to hear Bill. If it ain't Colorado Buffs ball or Arizona, I just don't really care much about the other P12 teams, but if Billy boy is calling the game, no matter who it is, I'll keep it on the channel. He's hilarious. I enjoy absurdist humor a lot, and I imagine Bill Walton is a walking Curb Your Enthusiasm show, mind you a bit more mellow than Larry David.

Bill was talking about how he used to go out in the deserts of Arizona and just relax and do a little peyote. He then told the play-by-play guy that the next time he goes out to do peyote in the desert he'll invite him out, and without missing a step the PbP guy says "Well Bill, you always invite me on air, but when you actually go I never get a call."

I guess the 13% that hate him are the same folks who eat plain bran flakes for breakfast and only have sex in missionary position.

It's stuff like this that make me stop when I'm channel surfing if Walton is doing the color commentary.

Gary Bussey could be his brother.

Only walton could get away with doing this on live TV

Yes. Bill Walton gave Dave Pasch, a block of cheese for Christmas.

Walton is calling the game tonight! Awesome! Might have to fire up "Reckoning" in his honor for a little pre-gamer.

Nothing was more irritating than having to listen to Walton announce our games against UCLA and Zona last year. For as much as he talks about the "groovy" boulder atmosphere, it is not enough to overcome his connections to those schools. This is like Aikman calling 9 of the cowboys games this year.

Talented and interesting man. Loved his career as a player. Hate him as a basketball announcer. Distracted and self absorbed.

Utah had a great play, and he was expounding because he hates him some CU. We came back down court and hit a three, he was still discussing the virtues on Utah.

I have never before witnessed a team hit a three point shot, with no reference from those witnessing the game. Never. Did not acknowledge they scored, that they had the ball, or that anything had happened while the ball was in CU hands. Even that they had the ball. I dunno. If it was not my team, boot stomping or not, maybe I would just wander with his bus.

I prefer Walt and Jessie for that.

If you're watching the game on television, not listening to a radio broadcast, do you really need the announcers to tell you that someone just made a shot?
