DC Search Including & beyond the 1st 4 Candidates

If Clune and Orlando took lateral conference moves rather than get an offer from Mac, then Mac better hire a name that would make those hypothetical hires here look small time by comparison. Otherwise a Mountain West team and an AAC team just clowned us.
Yep.

I remain positive on this outcome. Hate the wait, still positive.

Frankly, we would be greatly challenged to deteriorate from last years results, and direction on D.

Look forward to results of DC search.

Me too. I know nothing, so I can choose to be positive.

Makes me hope it is a kick ass assistant under Pete Carroll...someone with ties to the west coast and is ready to be a coordinator.

I love all the doomsday conjecture as if not having a DC today is any more alarming than not having one last weekend. It's someone on an NFL staff. Guaran-f******-teed

The same guy blasting everyone else for making assumptions in this search due to lack of public info is now making guarantees. Nice.

I wasn't blasting anyone for making assumptions. In fact, I wasn't blasting anyone at all. I simply stated that there were no other "sources" than Rivals reporting any candidates from the start... and that is a fact. I never said they were wrong, I just said there weren't any others. Keep digging, though Duff.

Nothing as solid as Rivals, but based on what HCMM said that he doesn't expect an announcement until this next week, at the earliest, speaks volumes of the situation. Probably the most telling thing we've heard since Baer left, IMO.

That would just be irresponsible

Try it, please.

I know that no one was talking about Bobby Hauck very seriously, but just as Fun Facts To Know, he was hired Friday 1/16 as Special Teams guy at San Diego State.

Sefo is probably a pipe dream, I'd be good if Walker was hired. Is he even on the radar? I think I already know that answer.

Here's my assumption, from Adam's posts and 1 high level donor who is not actively seeking information.

HCMM wanted to make a change and discussed the financials with RG.
RG approached donor base, threw out some top names as a possibility, and secured financial backing.
Names leaked by AD and/or donor as "candidates", should have been labeled "shoot for the moon candidates".
Only Gibbs was interested, others LOL'd (ode to Slider).

RG realizes mistake of earlier leaks and decides this isn't the way to hire an assistant.
HCMM, lacking said coaching tree, sets about on a long and thorough search, vetting candidates from up-n-comers, to older NFL guys and several in between. This process resembles his prior hires of both his initial staff at SJSU and his later hire of Lungren.
Process is down to a few candidates getting 2nd interviews.

Seto is not interested in leaving Seattle period.
Candidate is not with an NFL team currently involved with playoffs.
Eventual hire may not be any more exciting than the MWC/WAC hires, but a better fit with what HCMM wants to do and the chemistry seems right.
Everyone will bitch and moan.
Slider will wish we would just get it over with and hire PJ Fleck of WMU, the least successful coach there in a decade. But he has some high profile recruits signed up, so that is everything - clearly a better hire. Ignoring the fact that said ratings this low have zero track record of ever being accurate and that CU's own history shows that high rated recruits that choose loser programs almost never work out and are Broken Toys.

Can't wait for the melt-down.

Seems like a great summary and most likely way this is all happening behind the scenes.

I will be happy just to get a new DC.

I think HCMM is turning this around, but if he doesn't, then it will be fun to see how Rick George approaches a coaching search. Do you think he would do things very different from Bohn?

Well that is encouraging....

Even our donors have lost interest? Well, that's depressing.
