2015 WBB Recruit Profile Index

Thanks Bebe. Work has been ridiculous the last few months so I'm trying to get caught on all of the things I slacked off on recently.

Robinson and Lennard both look like they'll be top 100 caliber recruits when the summer evaluation period is over.

Great recruiting class for the Buffs.

There's every reason to believe that we're going to build a Top 25 program in WBB.

Looks like 3 of the 4 2015 recruits were here this weekend for their official visits... Kennedy Leonard, Alexis Robinson, and Mackenzie Ellis. Gave the "southern" gals (Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma respectively) a taste of Boulder's erratic fall weather... including a touch of winter.

They went horseback riding on Friday. Saw pictures of that. Appeared to be just the three recruits and the coaching staff.

Well, looks like ESPN has moved Ellis from TCU to CU. I sent them an e-mail with the correction and their response was basically 'we take our input from our official sources, not fans'. To which my snotty response was 'well your official source is wrong; too bad you don't care about accuracy'. Then a few days later I checked again and they now have Ellis as a CU verbal.

Ranking of recruiting classes from Prospects Nation has CU at #19. Two other PAC 12 schools ahead with Cal at #12 and UCLA at #14. But they don't have Mackenzie Ellis as part of the class either. In fact, she isn't even in their database. So I don't know what to make of that. How can she be a 4* top 100 player to ESPN HoopGurlz and not even on the radar for Prospectsnation?

Every time I think the men's basketball recruiting world is a mess, I look at the uncharted territory that is women's basketball.

It amazes me that a sport as big as NCAAWB has almost zero info. I know it is behind NCAAMB and probably NCAA Baseball in the spring in terms of viewership, but it still draws a ton of eyeballs during tournament time.

And how can Kennedy Leonard be ranked in the top 50 by service and not even in the top 100 in another (ESPN). If you watch her videos it's hard to imagine her being left out of anyones top 100. She's gonna be a difference maker in college.

On a different recruiting note, Leonard and Ellis played on the same club team, Cy-Fair Elite, which was one of the best in the nation. I would hope that it will continue to be a fertile recruiting ground for Lappe & Co.

One piece of information that could be useful to know I saw in the Brian Howell Daily Camera article (http://www.buffzone.com/buffzonetop...-womens-basketball-buffs-sign-four-class-2015 ) reporting the official signing today of the four young women for 2015 (either if another worthwhile recruit or two is found for this year, of for knowing how many players might be targeted for 2016)- "CU currently has 13 players under scholarship — two below the NCAA limit — and will lose three (Lexy Kresl, Jen Reese and Jasmine Sborov) to graduation after the season."

Here is an article for a 2016 WBB recruit Robbi Ryan. Looks like CU made her final five.

On a side note, is there a 2016 recruiting thread I should post info under?

She looks to be a fairly high level prospect, in the link below the evaluator states she is very much like Washington's Kelsey Plum who is a fabulous player.

Apparently she's not a great athlete, but on offense she has overcome the issue. Can play both point and 2 guard at 5'9". My guess is that she is a priority for the staff. Interestingly Wyoming didn't make her top five.

Just a random tweet I found (so who knows how accurate it is), but it names a player (for 2017) the Buffs may be interested in- Jinaya Houston. (Looking at her highlights and accomplishments already as a sophomore, definitely looks like a high level player to me, so makes sense the Buffs (and I'm sure many other teams) could be interested.)

Some video highlights- http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3562619/jinaya-houston

Found a paragraph with some info on her sophomore season as part of her being named all district (from http://qctimes.com/sports/high-scho...cle_1d5a3749-ec83-5888-9720-be3c1d992614.html )-

Jinaya Houston, Davenport North

Height, year: 6-1, so.

Honors/stats: Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 4A second team all-state, INA 4A second team all-state, all-district, first team all-MAC, averaged team-best 20.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 steals, shot 52.9 percent, 81 of 100 free throws (81 percent), has 768 career points
"

And, this site has her as the #5 ranked 2017 recruit for her 5 state area (looks to include Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas)- http://www.5statehoops.com/news_article/show/475152?referrer_id=1197900

I do know when the coaches announced the places they would be going during July, Iowa was one of the places. I'd love to see an Iowa girl on the team as that would increase the likelihood of a game within driving distance. Davenport is sort of in between Iowa and Illinois. Maybe UNI or Illinois State.

She looks to be very talented, especially when you consider the highlights were from her sophomore season.

I too hope CU is able to sign some Iowans in part because there seems to be a fair amount of talent in girls basketball there with a tremendous history in the sport. Also, I have ancestry from the state some of whom played in the days when it was 6 girl. And of course Lappe was one of my favorites at CU and of course she's from Iowa. In theory this would mean she has some good contacts in the state.
