(Very) Early predictions on who wins the North in 07'

I know its early and the freshmen havent stepped foot on campus yet, but who will win the Big XII North? They covered it briefly on ESPN and I agree with Herbstreet who went with Mizzou (F*ck nebraska).

I'm thinking this may be the one year that Mizzou doesn't choke. I don't see the division improving that much as a whole.

until Mizzou proves they can stop someone when it matters *or* run out the clock on the ground (whassup Mizzou bowl game against the Beavers?).... i wouldn't pick Pinkel to win anything.

they do get the Bugeaters in Columbia, but they'll lose in Boulder.

this is preliminary predictions. I haven't looked at schedules yet.

1. NU
2. Mizzou
3. ISU
4. CU
5. KSU
6. KU

your whole season hangs on Keller, if cally can simplify the offense enough and he can get it then you are in business, but if as is often the case it takes him more than a season to fully grasp the WCO you guys are ****ed becuase your defense is worse than last years version that lost 5 games

ISU finishing third? Based on what?

(Surely you haven't bought into the hype that Bret Meyer is a quality QB...)

Isn't that sorta like who wins the chance to go look really bad on national TV by getting thumped in the B XII title game. My point is as bad as the North has been in recent history does it really matter who wins it? Is it really winning or is it really just being the best looser?

I think ISU really underacheived last year. They were not nearly as bad a team as their record reflected. They return a lot of good offensive players.

NU's defense is losing a lot in Carriker and Moore. Without question our D-Ends are a huge disappointment thus far. NU's defensive backfield will be improved though from last year, in particularly at the safety position. Ganz is good enough to beat most Big XII north teams, but probably not Mizzou. NU needs Keller healthy. No question

Mizzou I feel is better than every team in the north except for NU. Chase is a battler. I like his moxy. I just think that NUs talent will be too much for them. Although I'm not saying that it is impossible that they could beat NU in Columbia and take the north.

KSU has a heck of a signal caller, but not much else. They will struggle.

CU is such a question mark right now. What kind of O-Line will you have? Obviously, you'll be better than last year, but how much better? How much of an impact will Nelson/Cody have? I know having a QB that can actually throw sure helped NU when we went from Dailey to Taylor. You guys could finish anywhere from 2nd to 5th I think in the North, it's so hard to predict with you Buffs right now. And your're certainly not a push-over. Not that you were even last year. Your 2-10 record didn't do you any justice really at all.

KU - Nobody expects much here except KU grads/fans.

Again, these are just really early predicitons. I haven't really been able to look at teams thoroughly yet.

They're also just opinions at this point. If you don't agree with them, sorry. I can't help it. It's how I see it.

I think that's changing. No offense to CU fans but when you were getting thumped by UT, that was probably about as bad as the North/South gap has ever been. And it was ugly. But there was the Vince Young factor too. No one could stop that guy.

I think you see that the North is coming back, a little bit at least. NU played with OU last year. Not saying NU was better, not at all, but they made it a game. That's better than what's been happening in recent past years.

Look at Mizzou. In spite of Gary Pinkel, they're staring a 9 win season in the face this year. And they're getting better every year.

And I still like Hawkins and think he's a very good fit at CU. I think you will see drastic improvements from last years team. It won't be long before CU is back in the mix. besides, CU thumped TTU last year. TTU has been a perennial power in the south in recent years too.

KSU is a mess with Prince at the helm. I really don't like him there. He got Freeman, and he'll be a heck of a player. But I really don't think Josh will ever have help around him. That's a sinking ship there in Manhattan.

i think the division will be fairly mediocre again.

i suspect the corn, even with a new qb and some question marks on defense, will have the inside track to win the north. they've recruited the best of any of the north teams. but, clown-a-han has yet to prove that he can coach college ball or win a big game. i actually think short bus shawn watson as their oc will help them a lot. the qb won't be asked to win games for them. with superior athletes, if they run a gb style gameplan (i.e. ball control, field position, good special teams), they are going to win more games than they lose.

i really don't think pinkel can coach his way out of wet paper bag, so even tho mizzery has some athletes, i just don't see them making any real noise in the division, but they are probably a bowl team.

kjuco state had some nice moments last year. but, the jury is definitely out on them and whether they can step it up this season.

ku always comes in with high expectations and goes out with whimper. mediocrity is their middle name.

isu, i think, is going to really suck this season.

our Buffs are a huge question mark, but i don't see us having a breakout year this season unless we get extremely lucky on injuries and we have some guys have career years. i think a .500 season is about the best we can reasonably expect.

so, i will go with a very early prediction as follows:

b12 north

1. cornholers, 9-3
2. mizzery, 8-4
3. CU, 6-6
4. kjsu, 6-6
5. ku, 5-7
6. isu, 4-8

Since I'm the eternal optimist (at least at this point in the off-season):

1. CU
2. ****ers
3. Asstards
4. Lameohs
5. ****donkeys
6. ISU

i know you are trying to play nice DR, but i don't see where Tech is "perennial power". Perennial 3rd or 4th place team in the South. they've never made the championship game. they are a legit bottom half top 25 team in a good year, pounded Cal in the Holiday Bowl a few years ago (their high watermark), the Harrell kid is a going to be a good QB, but i think you are overstating that one.

There's no question that TTU was down a little bit last year, and a lot of that rests on that they were starting a Frosh QB in Harrel. But make no mistake about it, TTU was still a solid team last year.

Since 2002 TTU's overall record is 42-22. A winning% of 66%. Not bad at all, especially playing in the Big 12 south every year when you get UT, A&M and OU every year. Don't think I'm calling TTU an all-time awesome program, far from it, but in a collection of recent years, they have been arguably the 3rd best team in the conference.

Especially to thump them as badly as you did, there's no way you could've done that if you were a legitimate 2-10 team. You were better than that. Also taking UGA to the wire.

Sheesh!

Trophy case installed. The Buffs are a LOCK to own the divison!

come on...I mean, if someone was putting their life on my prediction, I'd give a truly honest, calculated and nonemotional answer...

but **** that - CU WINS IT ALL BABY! :smile2: How could you think otherwise as a CU fan?

ya you played with us for the 1st 12 seconds or so, then the game was over, especially after the "drive" of 99 2/3 yards right up hillbilly throatslash's ****er poop hole....

The South rules, until some teams in the North step up, but it ain't happened
in a long time.

2001

north wins the big 12 and has two teams in bcs bowls including the national championship.

Things fluctuate in college ball the north was up then, it was down, and now they're starting to come up again.

no contest: buffs win, hawkins = coach of the year, mizzou and isu weep, and the fuskers stay gay... were gonna husk the huskers, skin the tigers and the cats, pretty soon the cyclones from the state of iowa, were gonna beat them cowboys and them jayhawks down in kansas, beat them oklahoma sooners much sooner than they think. (post script; we should have forfeit the alamo, and just given mexico texas) GO BUFFS

The big bad big red loses their entire starting defensive line, and the secondary sucks bigtime - nobody sucks like Cortney Grixby. It's a miracle his head hasn't caved in , he sucks so bad. I think this year Pinkel finally beats NU in Columbia. If Chase Daniel can't throw on Grixby - he can't throw on anybody.
