FYI for those of you who haven't gotten your airfare yet. I just purchased on www.flyfrontier.com for $138, including taxes, leaving Thursday @ 2:15 PM, arriving at 3 PM, leaving Phoenix @ 3:40 on Sunday (after the Broncos beat Buffalo), arriving at 6:30 back in Denver.

 :drink2: :gobuffs:

and, btw, the mission palms hotel is sold out..one of the walking-distance / nice hotels...what I mean is that this game is turning out to be quite popular.....I have six going so far

We're driving down there. It's not a bad drive and even with gas at $3.00/gallon, it'll be cheaper than buying three air tickets and a rental car.

Staying at the Mariott Buttes, BTW.

pebcak repaired. :smile2:

thank you miami, for fixing the link.

actually strike that gesture. i have another in mind. "problem exists between chair and keyboard"?

right. (sarcasm) YOU are the model for having your **** together, what with the polls and incessant alerts in chat. (/sarcasm)

here is an acronym for you: GFY. the issue was with user friendliness of the prompt, so take your link-nazi quips and stuff them right where your proctologist will have to aid you.

I'm looking forward to seeing both of you at the tailgate in Tempe.

I'm glad that I amuse you. If you were paying attention to this board, and another one 96 and I have been using, you'd see the pebcak term used jokingly a lot lately. I used it on MBB and Gateway recently though neither got as excited about it as you did. Nothing was intended but if you feel the need to get excited and use profanity on me to make your self feel better than go ahead. Perhaps you should consider anger management.

You also called me a nazi which is a bit over the top since I've never banned you or deleted anything you posted like the book burning and jew killing nazi's did. I fail to see the comparison to that group and myself. But I am sure it was said in jest on your part. Kinda like pebcak.

I'm sure everyone got it.

Damn...see what the offseason does to people? Sheesh. :smile2:

So.... anyway.....

How many nice hotels are there within walking distance for the game? I haven't been around Sun Devil Stadium or the ASU campus for a long time, but the last time I was down there I didn't remember much in the way of lodging close to the stadium. For that matter, I don't remember much of anything close to the stadium.

But that all may be different by now. Anybody know?

When were you last there? During the Roosevelt administration?:smile2:
Mill street has shopping, bars, lodging, restaurants, etc. all within a 10 minute walk to the stadium

It wasn't the Roosevelt administration, jackass!!

I'm pretty sure Wilson was in office by then... :smile2:

Actually, I remember Mill Street having a lot of stuff going on - guess it just seemed like a lot longer walk from the stadium to me. Might have had something to do with the way that we drove to the stadium or something. I don't know... I was just touring the campus with a friend who lives down there and she drove me back to see the stadium. But we had been all through, around and over the campus by then. I was pretty lost, to tell you the truth...

ahem....it's mill AVENUE....

sheesh!

"John Hancock? Its Herbie Hancock." :smile2:

I don't have anything to add to this thread, other than I'm really really pissed I can't make the trip down to Tempe this season. I guess I'll just have to go in 2011 when the Buffs make the MNC. :slayer:

1. sweetheart, nothing you do gets me excited. i thought you should know that prior to getting carried away with the idea.

2. you might consider thinking long and hard about if you have ever dropped a swear word in your life before you lecture about it. don't you think it is morally bankrupt to lecure an adult about something you might do yourself?

3. prior to engaging in informal intimacies amongst friends (commonly known as bullshitting), you might want to make sure they ARE your buddy. let me assure you, i am not your buddy.

now if you don't mind, the point of the post was a rather nice place in phx. thanks.

can i get a couple of hotel recommendations?

lb, is that marriot walking distance?

and, if we don't go with a place in walking distance, will we have trouble cabbing it to the game from a nice hotel that might be further away?

any thoughts? help a guy out here! i am thinking of surprising mrs. mbb with a trip to the game sans toddler. i think she'll be stoked but i need a seriously good quality hotel nearby so that it isn't "just about football."

help!!!!!

We need Phoenix Buff for some guidance.

I stayed downtown for the Fiesta Bowl game about 5 or 6 years ago. We were a ways away from Tempe.

MBB: If you bot play golf than find a place in Scottsdale and see if you can get a tee time. Scottsdale is the swanky burb, Tempe is a college town from what I saw.

cool. yeah, maybe over in scottsdale if i can't figure out something nearby. the phoenician is s'posed to be nice... and i saw a couple other places on the 'net with "casitas"-- basically, bungalows or cottages that look pretty swank... gotta do this right... mrs. mbb needs a toddler-free weekend.

ITB recommended this place to me. It's not within walking distance, but it's a very short drive. We'll be staying there (that might be reason for you to avoid the place).

The Buttes

mbb: it is all about the pampering. rent a fun car & valet it. enjoy the best experience that you possibly can. i know a number of people were staying at the buttes as well. you will love either pace, the mariott resorts are wonderful with their pampering.

use the spa package. she will ****ing love it. they make one hell of a spa experience.

thanks for the tips...

i have only one issue with the place sacky is staying... given his ill-humor lately, i wonder if a dark black cloud won't be hanging over the pool area the entire time... :smile2:

It'll be football season by then, we'll be 1-0 and I'll be in a fine mood. No worries there. Oh, and I'm driving, not flying some slack ass piece of **** airline, like say UAL. :smile2:

 if a giant chunk of blue ice falls thru the hood of your car, it will probably have come from a ual flight.

Thanks for the info. I had been tracking the costs but had not seen them that low.
