Spring Soccer Update

According the linked article, the Buffs are undefeated in their spring games (8-0) with one match left v Nebraska on Saturday morning at Prentup.

It seems that sophomore-to-be Brittney Stark has scored a number of key goals recently. She's from Broomfield.

My guess for next fall is the Buffs could have a pretty good attack. The question will be how well they rebuild their defense.

That's a tall order, but perhaps attainable. CU will be hard pressed to match its third place finish in the Pac 12 as they will have six road games with only five at home.

As I've stated earlier the key in my book will be rebuilding the back four. If Sanchez & Co. can find four solid starting defenders and a couple of backups they should be pretty good. I feel like the parts on the attacking end are more apparent with players like Brie Hooks, Maddie Krauser, Olivia Pappalardo, Brittney Stark, etc., combined with newcomers like Danica Evans, Stephanie Zuniga and Sarah Kinzner.

CU should be very, very good in goal this fall with Kate Scheele and Scout Watson.

If Ms. Stark can continue to improve the Buffs should have a potent offense led by Ms. Hooks and company. And, per this article (http://www.buffzone.com/ci_27930402/cu-soccer-goalkeeper-battle-yields-net-gains-buffs), sounds like goaltending may be THE strength (and at minimum should have great depth) of the team. So, as noted above, if the defense can reload, the Buffs could be very dangerous next year.

Apparently CU was completely out played in the midfield, but managed to use their speed to spring Brittney free a couple of times. NU was very physical in the center of the pitch and was able to control much of the play putting CU's defense under constant pressure.

Another Buff is camping with a U-20 national team. This time it's Jos Orejel who will be in the Mexican team camp who has games scheduled against college teams in the Midwest. I also would think incoming freshman Sarah Kinzner will be involved in any U-20 Canadian activities as she seems to have made it to that level.

I don't think CU's ever had this many players making it to national team camps at the same time.
