Did anyone else see the talk from the volleyball team (I believe it was coach Krtiza) about competing for national championship at some point?

I just love that the goals of our team have really taken off. I really think Kritza has the winning formula for CU Volleyball. It's fun to see. I don't think we're at the point of competing for a national championship now, but I love that our team isn't afraid to face the best- Penn State. Brutal schedule but competing in the Pac 12 allows us to see top teams every week.

What do fellow volleyball Buffs think?? Do you see as a possible National championship contender at some point??

I love the goals of the program as well!

I definitely think a National Championship is possible in the future. If you able to compete for a PAC12 conference title, then you will have the talent to make a National Championship run.

I think it depends on whether we keep improving or if we have reached our ceiling. We're ranked #24 to start the season, but there is still a pretty big gap between us and the national title contenders. I believe that it we recruit well and cut down on some of our mistakes, at some point we'll get a shot.

jeez, Pac 12 is awesome again this year. hate the 4 match road trip to start conference play (1st 3 are ranked)
Kritza signed the team up for another tough non-conf schedule too. (first four are ranked or receiving votes -- PSU is #1)

alright, now surprise me ladies!

Last year was a show me something year for Kritza and she delivered in my opinion. Now to keep that momentum going they need to make an impressive showing again especially with the talent they return. Best volleyball league in the NCAA, bar none. The competition will be at the highest level but if the Buffs are prepared to compete in all matches it should help them stay tough come tournament time.

Well that's depressing.

And honestly, Penn State aside, what's with the out-of-conference losses? Remember a few years ago when we swept Baylor and then beat a highly ranked Iowa State in the NCAA tournament? It was reminder of two things. One: How bad were were at the end of our Big 12 days. And Two: How tough the Pac 12 is. When we get away from Pac 12 play, it tends to look easy. CSU was a GREAT match last year, and we lost to a good team on their home court. Great match, though. And Penn State plays on a completely different level. But we match up pretty well with the upper quarter of other conferences. And also, we're due to beat USC this year. Just saying'...

Getting season tickets this year, should be fun. The CU Buffs snapchat had some videos of them training in the Springs today.

Deleted. Premature post.

Was it the "alright, now surprise me ladies!" that got you?

Nope- just a phantom "post quick reply" gremlin post by my computer. (I never make a mistake, so it couldn't have been me.)

I will have my usual voluminous and ignorant real reply coming up soon.

I hope the OP is wrong with all of the loss predictions.

I think this season depends on how the Buffs replace Taylor Simpson.

I'm hoping they get back to the NCAA tourney and get out of the 1st/2nd round and are in the Des Moines regional because I've already got tickets.

Did they surprise you with:

San Diego L
Florida State W
Oklahoma W

Next weekend will be tough.

A split on the upcoming trip would be huge.

I'd figure that the Buffs are going to run the table for the rest of the OOC. So they'd go into Pac-12 play at 9-2.

With that, 7-13 in conference play would get them to the Dance. Anything .500 or better would get the Buffs a home seed.

Yes, they should run the table before the conference season starts after next weekend.

I will never count them out. I know we have pulled our big upsets over the years at home, but you still have to play the match.
