THE GAME: The University of Colorado hosts front-range foe Northern Colorado in its last of a two-game homestand on Thursday, Nov. 19, 7 p.m. MST at the Coors Events Center.
...

ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO: Northern Colorado is 2-0 on the young season, defeating the Denver Pioneers on the road by a score of 60-51 to open the season and then dominating Western State, 101-48 at home earlier this week.

Northern Colorado, picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky in the preseason Coaches’ Poll, is averaging 80.5 points per game. The Bears’ backcourt is anchored by senior guard Kyleigh Hiser who has averaged 15 points over the first two contests.

The Bears are coming off a 2014-15 season where they advanced to the third round of the WNIT and won a program-high 22 games. Northern Colorado posted a 22-13 overall record and went 12-6 against Big Sky opponents to finish in fourth place.

Northern Colorado is under the direction of second-year head coach Kamie Ethridge.

This makes it sound like they'll be a decent challenge. Not Kentucky, but tournament experience last year. That avg points doesn't mean much when it was a 60 and a hundy, but the defensive focus wasn't so obvious in game one, so look forward to seeing if we can shut them down tonight. Go Buffs!

Need to take those No Colo scores with a grain of salt. The 101 score was against Division II Western State. And the 60 was against Denver ... a team that CU beat last year 77-49 in Denver.

Buffs struggled a bit in 3rd quarter while UNC played with more confidence. Too many turnovers from CU.

Long way to go for the Buffs to be ready for Pac 12 play, but they have some of the pieces.

Thanks to the gods (and hopefully great perimeter D) for the Bears being 4-26 from 3. Buffs up 52-34 with ~5-1/2 minutes left.

Good win. Took care of business.

Congrats to Coach Lappe on the milestone!

Congrats to Lappe on her 100th win at CU!

Despite a poor third quarter the Buffs were never in trouble in this one.

At the same time this team isn't close to ready for Pac 12 play.

Concur. 3rd was a dumpster fire. But also, like you said, pieces are there. When they got in our face on D, we unraveled. Need to figure out how to get rid of the ball and keep composure. There was a section in that game with like 3 jump balls in a minute, it was silly. Really nice to see that any of a number of people will step up to score. The freshmen who have had so many points got pretty shut down, but Haley Smith and ZBF picked it up like we expect them to. And Jamee got her double-double.
Best moment of the game for me: Huge block by Jamee, picked up by Kennedy, Jamee somehow beat her down the floor but the pass is knocked right back to Kennedy as she's rolling in to lane and she lays it up.

It's plays like this that I love watching!

Agree that this team is not ready to be competitive in the Pac12. Some pieces are falling in to place, but we will see more today with a road game against a ranked team.
