Interesting post. I guess the courts have to sort out the fact from the fiction. As the trial won't happen for such a long time, you can't really tie the suspension to the outcome of the case.
Based on what's presented here, the indefinite suspension would have to get lowered to a few games, and some sort of community service/counciling.. Breaking the window after the fight indicates control issues. But better to take aggression out on a window than cause further injuries to the drunk guy.
It sounds like Sip was standing up for his buddy, who was outnumbered. It's Perry's mouth in combo with some bullet-proof drinkers that is at the root of this episode. Perry owes Sip a debt of gratitude for covering his back. Next time Perry mouths off and gets into a fight, he's on his own.

If I was defending Sipili-- my first question would be, how do you know Sipili is the one who injured Antrim?? There are at least two witnesses who report that Antrim was involved in another fight on the same night. How can anyone make the assumption that the fight with Sipili is the one that caused his injuries? (I am surprised that even Ringo seems to have jumped on that bandwagon, saying "[Sipili] did the most damage, injuring Antrim very seriously.")
Interesting read. Sounds like the big doof came to the defense of his teammate and didn't know his own strength. It also sounds like the dude he messed up proceeded to get into another fight afterwards, so maybe Sipili's blows didn't do 100% of the damage.

I had the same thought running through my mind when I read about another fight that night.
And not that it matters, but if this guy really did charge at Sipili and started the engagement between those two, then Sip had every right to kick his ass. Dude should of kept walking, doesn't matter what was said.
I agree (see my post above), but I also expect it would be fairly easy to make the distinction. It's probably because Sipili was the only one who kicked Antrim's ass.
Although the fact that Antrim was in more than one fight on the same night does cause me to wonder that maybe he's the guy with the anger issues, not Sipili.

If it is true that this kid was in multiple fights that night then he has some serious problems and is an asshole. Most people are in a handful of fights in their freakin' life (if any) let alone in one night. If you go around fighting all of the time then you deserve to get your ass kicked eventually and don't go crying to the cops or the legal system about it.
A guy like Sipili has to lay off to the best that he can unless it is a serious self defense issue. This blog just brings up so many questions. I know they reported multiple people but weren't some of those people girls? How big are these guys - are they really the types that should be ****ing around with football players regardless of what type of comment was said about the lady (chivalry yah, but have a freakin' brain and get the lady over it)?
We had a top notch team when I was in college (a.k.a. National Champions), but we were also smart enough to stay away from groups of football players unless they were personal friends. I know they were great players, but some of them acted pretty ****ing scary at parties and you just got the hell away from them and ignored any comments they may have spewed. (Not intended to be a blanket statement for the entire team since I would estimate that 95% of the guys were class acts)

Two things stood out for me about the "victim". 1) He allegedly was in another fight on the same night and 2) He fled, went home and avoided the cops. He also didn't immediately go to the hospital. This leads me to believe two things:
1) He instigated it
2) He was too drunk to realize he just got ****ed up
Either way the "victim" does not appear to be wholly innocent and Hawk allowing Sipili to practice leads me to believe that he was acting in self defense.

The last time I was on a jury the case was the biggest joke I had ever heard of. I could not believe that it went to court and frankly was pissed that we waste our money on such crap. Unfortunately it was just a few folks who had an altercation - both of whom were the types that lean on our system vs. just figuring it out on their own.
Football players aside - dipshits are dipshits and should be treated as such.
