Key for the season

I know there are a lot of area for improvement for the Buffs this year. QB play is probably at the top of everybody's list.

The more I have thought about this though, I think the key to the season this year is going to be our RB. With a new QB this year it is going to be critical that we can control the ball when we need to and establish a strong running attack. I also think a strong running game will help this O-line get in a rhythm. We have some younger guys on the line again this year, and letting them have a running game mentality should help them find their grove early in the season.

Hugh Charles has got to start out the season strong and establish himself as THE every down back on this team we have hoped we would become. We all know he has game breaking speed once outside, but I want to see him hit the line quick and then use that speed to beat the LB once he get through the hole. If Hugh Charles can emerge as RB who can give you that 100+ yards game on in given week this team will take on a much different look this year.

I think you make a good point about the running game, but I'd have to say that QB is still the key for CU. With even an average QB, you would have won several more games last year (including CSU and Georgia for sure).

I don't disagree, but if we would of had a strong running game there are a lot of games that we lost in the 4th quarter because we couldn't keep the ball in our hands and give our defense are rest. The Georgia game is the first that comes to mind. If we could have pounded the ball we may have been able keep it longer and had some better clock management.

I guess I just don't expect much out of our QB's this year. Who ever starts is going to be a first year starter for US and is going to need time to mature. The only chance he will have to do that is if Charles because a ball control threat, and learns how to take the 4 yards gain at times.
