Best basketball conference this year.

If you are going best conference by which one has the best teams, it is probably the Big-12. They are very top heavy, but those teams are very good.

If you are going best conference by best teams from top to bottom, it has to be the Pac-12. Anybody in this conference can win on any given night.

Agree with Shldr2Shldr

Any p12 team can lose on any given night, but the talent at the top of the big 12 (KU, OU, ISU, WVU) is just on another level.

Big XII. ACC is second, but it's not really close followed by the P12.

And sorry Luke, but the B1G is wildly overrated - like they are every year. They have Iowa, Michigan St and Maryland who all have the potential but have yet to live up to it and then a bunch of garbage. The Big XII has three potential top 10 teams (KU, OU, WVU), some seriously scary teams and then TCU. When Okie Light is your second worst team, you're damn scary.

Fair enough and Purdue isn't a bad team, they are like 17 I think. I haven't watched the Big 12 much really so that's why I asked. I have seen OU and Kansas of course. I saw Texas beat North Carolina, few Iowa St. games but that's about it.

Wisconsin has now won 7 in a row, including a convincing win at #2 Maryland. Indiana belongs in the conversation as well.

It gets a bit tiresome listening to all the "best conference" chatter down here (b12 country).

I really hope there are a lot of one-and-dones in the ncaa tourney. That might silence all the homer simpsons for a while.

I can tell you right now there will be 32 one and dones.

Actually the exact number depends on the performance of the 2 play-in game winners. If those winners both win their next game, there will be 34 first-time losers. If they both lose, there will be 32 first-time losers. At least if I'm thinking correctly.

If my math is correct, it could be anywhere from 32-36 one-and-dones. Depends on whether the winners of the 4 play-in games win or lose their next game.

I think it's the Big XII, although recent years (and the Big12's recent performance against the SEC) suggests that it does get a little overrated. Texas is coming on strong though.

The ACC's top 2/3 or so is nasty. Really not many off-games this year. BC is abysmal and Wake has collapsed.

Pac is getting the lack of respect as normal. Someone from the mock selection was on and she could not come to terms with the Pac having 7 teams. We're suffering from that perception due to not having teams ranked.

Top to bottom, the Pac-12 has the most quality teams/ fewest bad teams.

Big 12 has the most Final Four contenders (at least half the conference), so I put them #1 with a big gap.

ACC, B1G, Big East or P12 all have an argument for #2 depending on what you value.

SEC definitely last among the Power 6.

love that you don't feel compelled to mention VT in that group!

I think the Hokies can get 3 more ACC wins. 8-10 would be really solid progress.

Cassell with that horrendously dim lighting was enough of a challenge even when VT was abysmal.

yeah, I've always heard players say that it's hard to play in a stadium with no crowd :(

It's hard to have several ranked teams when even the lower tier is good enough to beat the upper tier with some frequency. The PAC12 is too good for its own good.
