"I kind of wondered how I could go from being so good to being at Nebraska".

Sam Keller, Denver Post 8/21/07.

I read that story too, did you realize that Keller had CU on his list of schools he wanted to go to?

I think you can go to the Rocky mountain news or Denver post and find it, i saw it on one of those.

Yes, I am fully capable of reading the King's English.

Just kidding. I didn't know CU was a possibility for him until I saw the story today. Interesting. But , with Helfrich being here now, it makes sense.

I think maybe if CU's offense may have been in place, they may have got Keller, who knows?

Why am I thinking that there was some issue with ASsU giving Keller a release to transfer to any team they would play while he was there? That would have taken CU out of the picture from the start...

To me the most disturbing thing about Keller is that after he was named starter, a number of players went to the HC and asked to replace him with Carpenter. More than just passing and running skills, a QB needs to be a leader on the field. For some reason the other players did not believe in Keller as a leader.

I guess time will tell.

sweet, new sig line

I do think Keller is overatted and his non leadership, selfish skills will follow him to Lincoln. I can't wait to face him the day after turkey day!

Actually, there was a story later on that Koetter found out something about Keller and told the players on his "leadership" during a weekly meeting. The story of the players going to the coach was said to be wrong.

I hope Helfrich can figure out a way to get in that kid's head. He is sure to know Keller's weaknesses. I mean other than the Solo Cup long toss.

Dude, did you SEE the damage he did to that car with that solo cup? That's not a weakness, it's a strength. If I were the knu coaches, I'd petition the NCAA to switch from footballs to solo cups.

Don't Take Sam Keller's Parking Spot

This is rich.
Campus police cited Nebraska quarterback Sam Keller Thursday for disturbing the peace after he allegedly yelled profanities at a woman who took a parking spot he was waiting for in a campus parking garage.

The woman told campus police Keller got out of his car, yelled and threw a plastic cup at her car, said University Police Capt. Carl Oestmann.
I was just about to write about the Nebraska quarterback competition when I discovered this fantastic item that adds to Keller's legend.

In case you haven't seen Keller play before, dude's a little unhinged. Mostly in a good way with the rat-a-tat-tat finger guns he likes to take out of his imaginary holster. But sometimes he's doing stupid things like throwing into quintuple coverage to prove a point about his arm strength and insanity. We're talking MC Pee Pants level insanity (I'm a giant spider and I wear diapers, I'm insane!).

Anyway. Consider yourself introduced.

You're right. His weakness is actually Non-Violent Parking Lot Conflict Resolution.

There has to be a lot more to this story. if Keller was all that we have heard about why was he being benched? maybe bad coaching decisions or maybe...

I heard that this morning Callahan called Keller into his office and told him that he made a mistake and was going to name Ganz the starter.

Ahhh, laughter through fear! Pretty much the M-O for you Buffs!

1) I call bull**** on that quote.
2) I get the feeling the Buffs are going to have tryptophan to blame for the hurting Keller will put on them the day after turkeyday
3) You Buffs would be spewing all over yourselves if Keller had chosen to come to Boulder, and to deny that is laughable at best.

Oh, and tell me where Koetter is coaching this year?? Bet he wishes he could go back in time, and not let a crybaby sophomore and a couple of his buddies call the coaching shots at ASU!

.

Maybe true but we are still deluding our selves with the fact it takes years to master the WCO and think for at least the first part of the season QB wont be a strong point for you. your lucky in the sense we get you late, but do be surprised if keller goes 13-30 with 2 or 3 picks against SC and almost blows a bunch of other games early.

1) Go check the DP website, it is a direct quote.

2) Nonsense.

3) Sure, if Keller had the good sense to come to CU, I would have been all for it. But the fact he didn't makes the argument academic. He's got talent, but so did Harrison Beck, the momma's boy from FL. He didn't seem to be the savior the corn shuckers thought either. The list of corn saviors who weren't is getting pretty long: Jammal Lord, Curt Dukes, Joe Dailey, Harrison Beck, will Helen Keller be the next "great" who wasn't? Time will tell. Z. Taylor was pretty decent, I'll give you that.

The jig is still out if Harrison Beck has any talent or not. I don't see them dancing in the streets down at NC State because he is there! From what I have read on him and his practices, he has sucked it up pretty bad! Tossing 4 picks in the last two live scrimmages. As for Jammal Lord that is two fold. The guy ran the hell out of the option and did a damn fine job doing it. We were ****ed when he would drop back and pass it! As for Joe Dailey, don't recall ever reading where he was that "hyped up" by Husker fans on coming here. He was another that I think would of done a great job in a option style of offense. I give the kid props though. Eventhough he did horrible in the WCO, he tried his damndest. Not only at playing QB but learning the entire playbook.

i think keller is going to be pretty good, actually. shortbus shawn watson (aka "booger") is pretty good with teaching qbs to manage a game. if he can keep keller within the gameplan, i think he will do pretty well. they've got good receivers to throw to. look at CU when klatt had hackett and mccoy and d.graham. lots and lots of completions and high percentage/low risk plays... they let the receivers go get the yards after the catch. i think we are going to see a lot of this from the fuskers this year and i think they are going to win a lot of games, unfortunately.

on the plus side, they've got no running game that i can see. that will hurt them. i don't think they match up well against the better teams on their slate. they will dominate the weaklings and get punk-slapped by the good teams, i expect.
