NCAA Tournament General Thread

Once again watching a P12 team after bed time. Way to bury Oregon at timeframe when the E Coast still won't see them play.

Allowing Washpun to get mugged with no call at the end of regulation sucked.

If you're referring to the inbounds where he threw it to A&M in the corner, that was not a mugging. First, you don't throw it into the corner. Second, Washpun had Morgan open, but hesitated. Third, the D played great in the trap in the corner, and Washpun messed up - not on the refs. The refs did mess up on the call on Jepperson fouling Caruso for that 3 pt play, but again, why put yourself in that position. UNI **** the bed...can't think of worse collapse - beats Jason Williams against Maryland and Reggie Miller vs Knicks. What a terrible way to lose. The play at the end of 1st OT was terrible too - taking another half court shot when you had time to pass and drive for a decent shot... ...hard to blame college players, but still... ...they **** on themselves, and I feel bad for them. They were a good team.

Oregon had better find a way, or look out next selection Sunday, per PAC teams. Cmon Ducks

What a weekend. But now I'm sad because it's a whole year until the first weekend of next year's tournament.

Ducks will matchup up better against Duke. If their offense fires per usual, they will be a handful. Curious to see how the line makes this game. Duke has the history and a great coach, but Ducks very athletic. Will be an interesting game. I like Ducks chances actually

It really sucks SFA and UNI coughed up their wins today. Not only because they are good fun teams to watch, but because they lost to two top 5 ****iest **** **** schools out there.

Looks like Wiscy is getting hot at the right time. Teams that do that usually make a deep run. U would've told me they would be in the Sweet 16 a month and a half ago or so, I'd have laughed.

Jamie Dixon leaving Pitt for TCU

From there, great recruiting area, and I know this may be surprising, but apparently some fanbases tend to get complacent when the best coach they've had in a long time doesn't win a national championship.

Great hire for TCU.

I think Dixon was close to wearing out his welcome at Pitt. Seems like a good move for all 3 parties. Expectations are quite a bit higher there than history would suggest is reasonable. As a program, Pitt is on a very similar historical level as CU. Dixon's record is similar to Tad's, with some bigger regular season win totals mixed in.

TCU is his alma mater. He also didn't have a great relationship with Pitt's new AD. Clear step down, but he'll probably enjoy having no expectations

Expectations at TCU involve not playing second fiddle to **** Baylor (or SMU). Dixon won't be able to mail it in. TCU's AD doesn't settle for mediocrity.

I'm sure they want to get out of the basement, but he's coming from a place where anything less than the Sweet 16 was a disappointment. As an alum + having a solid track record, I imagine he'll be allowed to show what he can build

How many years has it been since they had men's basketball success though? Billy Tubbs 20 years ago? Football got serious about competing but I never saw men's basketball make a seriously competitive hire the entire time they were in the Mountain West. Trent Johnson kept moving to lower expectations each time the heat got turned up and he couldn't get any momentum. It will be a nice retirement gig for Dixon as long as he can keep his record above .500. I just hope he gets resources to compete and doesn't realize he's playing a small second fiddle to football and regrets not making a more lateral move. Alma mater or not Dixon's taking a big step back to me unless they really change the culture there. Baylor certainly did (by cheating to win).

And his hair still looks like a German chocolate cake.

Nova - Miami showing some strong offense in the first half. Not so great defense, but highly entertaining.

Crazy. Nova took a big lead by hitting 7 straight shots. Miami answered with 5 straight 3pt shots.

Holy crap. Just checked the stats. About 70% from the field , 70% from 3, and 100% from the line combined. A couple more made 3's as i type.

Good for Jay Wright. He seems like a good coach and leader of men...but his tournament record could be better. Hopefully this fends off his haters for a bit.

Nova and Kansas have been most impressive so far. This Terp-Jayhawk game should be fascinating. The south, aka the Buffs region, was so so so loaded.

No to UNC? I think they look good, while I do think KU and Nova are doing great right now.

After Duke, I'm rooting for OU bc of Hield.

Gulf coast hung around with UNC for a while, and the providence game was closer than the final score. UNC has been impressive, but I think Nova and Kansas have pretty much dominated. I'm a big Buddy fan too. Would love to see him in a Nuggets uniform next year.
