BSN: Checking the Resume: Some fans don’t deserve Tad Boyle

Don’t read the comments. Don’t ever read the comments below a story on the internet because, inevitably, you’ll read the voices of people inhabiting the darkest, most hateful corners of the world. Don’t read the comments, because you’ll then remember how much some people suck.

The same rule should apply for searching your own name, or anyone’s name for that matter, on Twitter—a lesson I learned on Tuesday night when hoping to get an idea of what peoples’ reactions were to Tad Boyle’s NCAA compliance comments from earlier in the day.

I agree completely, but it's such a small percentage of our fanbase that feels this way. There's like two posters on here calling for his head (I'm sure a few more on Twitter but still) lol.

We always get so much crap nationally about our athletics and our fanbase. I would rather an article praising him and reminding Boyle that the overwhelming majority loves and appreciates all he has done for us.

I hear you, but two things:

1.) It's not my "job" to write articles that make Boyle happy or paint the fan base in a certain light. It's also not my job to rip the program or fan base apart recklessly. I'm just trying to address things that seem to be of discussion in Buffs Nation as of late--which is what my column on BSNBuffs has always been geared towards. On that subject...
2.) Yes, it's a small percentage, but it's a tone and topic that has gained so much steam since the end of 2014-2015 that, I kid you not, it's the most common discussion I have with fans.

Listen, I don't even follow CU hoops that religiously and even I know we have something special with Tad. Stevie Wonder could see that.

If social media had existed, there would have been vocal "fans" in the early 1990s calling for McCartney's head and a larger number of sane fans who thought those folks were making some valid points but go a bit too far.

I remember a lot of fans - a lot of fans - putting voice to the notion that McCartney had hit a ceiling after the 1988 Freedom Bowl loss. His bowl record at the time was 0-3, and the Buffs had finished fourth in an eight team conference for two straight years. Many felt that he did well to get the team up from being a doormat, but that his in-game coaching was terrible and he couldn't win the big games.

Something people need to think about in regard to Tad's program: one of the main complaints is that he has "plateaued" because he hasn't been able to sign any McDonald's All-Americans. But people need to think of the other side of that coin. Tad has built a consistent 20+ game winner and NCAAT participant without having those guys. He has built a foundation, roster and culture that is in position to go to a Final Four if and when he is able to land the next guy like Chauncey... not just make the round of 32 with that type of player.

Also prolly shouldn't read fan's reactions after a really disappointing loss.
