as a former east coast guy, i never really encountered a 9:00 am game. when we lived in atlanta we always had people over and grilled out for the games. now that i am on the west coast, i am a little lost as to what food to have for an early morning game. what do all of you do for early game food? the only certainty is that we will have bloody marys, champagne and mimosas, and beer (i was able to drink beer at any time of day while in school).

also, if you have any recipes to share, they would be most welcome.

breakfast burritos, mimosas, and beer. and, if the game turns ugly, bourbon.

Breaksfast casseroles that can be made the night before and then baked in the morning...I have a couple different receipes if you're interested...eggs, hash browns, sausage, bread, cheese, chilis, etc.

Breakfast tacos:

- 1 pound chorizo (the good chorizo comes in a casing, like sausage, but it's usually open at the end so you can squeeze the stuff out, you don't eat the casing)
- 10-12 eggs
- 24 tortillas
- Shredded cheddar (you can sub pepper-jack according to taste)
- Salsa or pico de gallo

15 minutes to prepare: In one big, deep skillet, spray for non-stickiness (or use a non-stick skillet), and put all the chorizo in. Cook until there's no more pink and a little brown. Drain about half of the fat. Beat all the eggs in a bowl and pour in the skillet. Stir constantly to ensure all the chorizo gets coated with egg until the eggs are cooked.

Serve the chorizo-egg mixture in a large dish (chafing if you have one), the warm tortillas, cheese, and salsa on separate dishes for people to assemble their own tacos. I think it serves about 10-12 people.

Side potatoes:
- 12 cups potatoes, diced
- 3 cup chopped onions
- 12 tablespoons butter
- paprika, salt and pepper, to taste

Cook diced potatoes in boiling water for about 4 minutes, until just a bit tender but not cooked. Drain potatoes and toss with onions. Heat butter medium heat in a heavy skillet; add potatoes and onions. Fry, stirring occasionally until potatoes browned.
Season to taste with paprika, salt and pepper.

Mimosas
Equal amounts of orange juice and champagne or sparkling wine. Mix together and serve cold.

Here is a great recipe I have for an early tailgate, but you have to start late the night before.

1) Place several bags of ice in bottom of a trash can
2) go to liqour store and get barrel exchanged
3) Place barrel in trash can with ice
4) Place more ice as needed around the freshly inserted barrel
5) let barrel sit for about 1 hour so that it can effectively chill to temp
6) Start sampling barrel contents late that evening one cup at a time. As you finish one cup feel free to sample contents again.
7) If the barrel runs dry before 9:00 am kick return to liqour store for new barrel.

This has worked great for every tailgate I have ever been. Never been a complaint yet.

Previous years' answer: beer.

This and forthcoming years' answer: I don't know.

I'd install a griddle on the grill and make a lot of eggs, bacon, and potatoes.

You know what? If I knew for sure that there would be 15-20 people at the tailgate, I'd do this. I have the griddle attachment for the grill.

As it is, I'm doing the breakfast burrito thing and maybe some bagels/cream cheese and screwdrivers. I can't stand bloody marys and mimosas are gay. This isn't a brunch, it's FOOTBALL.

Start cooking up good ****. Do some chips and queso for appies, then something like italian sausage and peppers/onions, make a big salad. Make tailgating about the food instead of the booze. Marinate some chicken the night before and grill it up, etc. You can do fajitas, grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken kabobs, the list goes on and on. I'd be happy to help you put a menu together that will be easy to make and taste great.

If you can't tell, I really like food.

Based on your sophomoric [look it up] posts so far, ****ting is probably the most meaningful contribution to society you've ever made.

well, if you do decide you like the abuse and continue to hang around here looking for approval, you'll soon discover that we already have a mascot sheep humper and he's a self-avowed fecal fiend. so, if there is to be any poop flinging, you'd best look to your brother sheep.

and, by the way, if you don't want to read sophomoric posts, you are in the wrong location. you might want to try sheepnation, where at least all the juveniles agree with you about us evil Buffs.

Getting insulted by anonymous posters doesn't constitute "abuse." If you someday experience real tragedy or challenge in your life, you won't take this so seriously. It's football, not cancer. Your mascot, by the way, is not a "he." Ralphie's cool, but she's a "she."

Thank you for the recommendation regarding Ramnation. I post there regularly. We have some great CU fans that post there, too. And it doesn't take a lot of brains to understand that in any large group of people (such as the CU or CSU fan base), you'll find the typical bell curve of maturity and intellect. They range from posters like you to fans that are too smart to stereotype people based on one simple factor such as which university they attended.

now you are just being ridiculous. you come over here, pop off, and then want to act like you are looking for mature dialogue about football. furthermore, what in the world makes you think i take any of "this" seriously? you know nothing about me, yet you are prepared to judge me based upon a few silly responses on the 'net. yet, you don't want to be judged by your silly posts; you want US to look at the deeper sheep within you.

if you bruise this easily, you might want to avoid contact sports. also, the fact that you think sheepnation is a bastion of goodness speaks volumes about your frame of reference and myopia. that crystal chin of yours could use some reinforcement.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

& eggs.

wow, that was a mature response, ass-hat.

You said it earlier: I'm looking for mature dialogue about football. From your very first response to my posts, you have been ridiculously insulting and immature. I don't have any desire to continue to talk to someone who can't do anything but take cheap shots and talk about things like "****" and "ass." If you have anything either football related or just plain witty, please say it.

There are many CU fans who post smart, insightful, knowledgeable and intriguing messages here and on Ramnation. You aren't one of them and it isn't worth spending any further time reading or responding to what you write. How you made it to Manhattan Beach, I'll never know. In an enclave of sophisticated, cool and mature people, you certain come off like a spoiled trustfund baby. Are you sure you aren't living in Manhattan, Kansas? Your mentality fits better there. So go ahead and take your shots; I really couldn't care less.
