Final Prospect Rankings

247 has their final rankings out fwiw. I know some people don't want to be facing top recruits in the PAC 12, but I'm the opposite. I want to see the PAC 12 signing the top players and the conference to continue getting stronger. With that said, Arizona did a great job this recruiting cycle, and Oregon and UCLA did well too. Outside of PAC 12, UK and Duke really stole the show, with Bolden still in play for the two schools. Look also at HARVARD...of all schools, they did pretty well. No...Peters did not make the top list, but of course, that doesn't detract away from him...I'm selfishly sort of hoping he doesn't make any lists and that pisses him off and fuels him.

Rivals also put out its final rankings today.

Peters 140
Siewert 148

Other players that have been ranked in the 140's: Oladipo, Trey Burke, DINWIDDIE, Uthoff, Anthony Gill, Michael Qualls, Bonzie Colson, Riley LaChance, Justin Bibbs, & TORY MILLER

Scout lists 4 of the top 32 players a committed to Arizona ... a continuation of them consistently getting top talent year after year. Yet CU consistently competes with Arizona with much less heralded recruits ... often beating them, especially at CU. I think that this is a function of two factors ... First, the ratings are not always predictive of effectiveness of a player in college (a lot of factors ... character, motivation, personality and some are late bloomers) ... and the second is that Tad Boyle does a great job of scouting, assembling and developing the talent that has a desire to be at CU and coaching them up. I like CU to make a lot of waves in the PAC 12 and beyond next year.

Also has to do with AZ recruiting one and done players or players that leave early for the draft. Would have been interesting to see an AZ team that still had Aaron Gordon, Stanley Johnson, RHJ, and Brandon Ashley.

Completely agree - this doesn't detract from the job that Tad has done, but I'll take senior Scott over freshman Gordon or Ashley. I would not take Scott over those two as juniors though. Same can be said for XJ as a junior over RHJ as a frosh.

With that said, AZ does recruit players that are there for the longer term to supply stability to their program, like most programs should. York, Tark, etc - decent players that developed fine. Aside from AZ's top-tier talent, I say CU is right on part with AZ in terms of talent development and product on the court. Of course, that's sort of like saying if Shaq didn't have his size but was my height instead, we'd be comparable players, so somewhat frivolous point for me to make...

One response to all the recruiting rankings crap: VILLANOVA. One excellent player and a bunch of well-coached, very good players.
That was as good a college team as seen in recent years.

Except... not really. Their rotation and 247 Composite ratings of those players coming out of high school:

Jalen Brunson: 5* (#4 PG, #22 overall)
Ryan Arcidiacono: 4* (#9 PG, #57 overall)
Josh Hart: 4* (#18 SF, #80 overall)
Kris Jenkins: 4* (#13 PF, #76 overall)
Daniel Ochefu: 4* (#8 C, #49 overall)
Phil Booth: 4* (#22 SG, #74 overall)
Mikal Bridges: 4* (#19 SF, #80 overall)
Darryl Reynolds: 3*

You can feel free to drop your flawed narrative at any time.

Yep. You can have a great team without 1-and-done & NBA Lottery types, but you still need to fill the roster with Top 150 types to have a good chance to go beyond the the first weekend.

Recruiting matters.

Not flawed at all! I said very good players; not one of those guys, except maybe Brunson, was considered a "one and done"-type of the UCLA-KU-UK-Duke ilk.
How many UCs on that roster declared for the Association? NONE, as of now, with only 3-and-done players Hart and Jenkins "just testing" the waters? Many consider them the least NBA-talented National champs in a long while. Flawed narrartive teams are more along the lines of Butler and George Mason

Very talented team it was just different to see such highly rated guys play so hard all the time and play exceptional defense. Great coaching job really.

You specifically called the recruiting ratings crap. Keep digging.
