Not big time? what ****ing game were you watching? Peyton Manning couldn't have done more with what he had. Go soak your ****ing head. Did you see how good the "big time" QB at Notre Dame did today?

I like Cody. He's solid. But will he kill QB recruiting for the next two years?

It's a valid point in so much that it appears that he will be our starter for 3 to 4 seasons including this one. One game does not lock him in that job but any recruit can conclude that pretty easily. My guess is we will probably not recruit anymore than one QB next year anyways in lieu of addressing other needs.

Not if the Buffs win. We'll be able to recruit WR, RB, OL, DL. Kids flock to a leader and a winner.

OU started a redshirt freshman QB today.
He completed 21 of 23 passes for 363 yards and about 10TDs.

I doubt Landry Jones will decommit tomorrow.

Good players want to play on good teams and want to face good competition. If players don't want to come to CU because they are afraid of competing with a player like Cody Hawkins then they probably SHOULD look elsewhere.

I don't think Cody will start all 4 years. He's good for now but we will get replaced by a taller better passer in the next 2 years.

We got a whole lot of more worries in recruiting than QB for the next 2 years.. OL, DL, LB, DB, and WR's should be the top of the agenda for Hawk and company.. This team needs an infusion of SPEED and STRENGTH..

I think Hawk adressed the OL, DL, and WR's. DB should be a top priority. I'd like to see a top rated DB come in next year. I normally don't worry too much about the LB's. Cabral normally gets the best out of his players. RJ played pretty well i thought.

That is because he didn't throw for 500 yards and six touchdowns.
Anticipation just gets the best of some people. He did fine for his first game. He may or may not be the QB of the future for this team. It will depend on wins and studs that come to the Buffs for a shot at the starting spot. The coach is a professional and won't be swayed by emotion. If someone is recruited that is better he will start. Until that happens, Cody Hawkins is the best thing going for the Buffs. Everybody who was disappointed by him just needs to relax and enjoy the moment more. We won!

:yeahthat: the best posts in this thread.

Ballinger could be CU's starter in a year or two ...who knows.
He's raw but has the size & arm to compete.
CU also has a commit from Tyler Hansen, a QB from California
who looks to be able to throw 'ropes' accurate & deep if you
watch his high school highlight reel.

Don't panic. All is good

Compared to last year, it's hard to bitch about the QB play. Cody played well yesterday. The only ball that stands out that he should not have thrown was on the flea flicker. Maybe also the ball he threw at the end of regulation (a floater against the grain)...he probably should have thrown it out of the endzone.

It appeared to me that Cody was not looking past his primary receiver. MBB noted, however, that he thought Cody was going through his progressions very rapidly. Maybe it was so quick, that I didn't see it. It seemed to me that you could tell where the ball was going a few seconds before he released it. Telegraphing passes could prove to be deadly against faster defenses. In any event, he was finding open receivers and he didn't have a ton of time to throw the ball.

I think we abandoned the run too early. After we got down by 11, it seems we started to rely on the pass too much. That may be attributable to the fact that Hugh was out. Point being, we didn't keep the defense very honest in the third quarter and CSU was putting a ton of pressure on Cody.

It's too early to anoint Cody as a four year starter. But considering that (a) it was his first game and (b) the offense was horrendous last year, Buff fans have to be pleased with yesterday's performance.

I thought Cody played very well for his first start. Sure, he made some mistakes but overall I was pleased with his performance.

Just because I think we can and will eventually get someone better doesn't mean that I'm not ecstatic about Cody. He's a huge improvement from last year. He's smart, tough accurate, his arm can get the job done, a leader and a winner. I'd be happy to have him under center for the next 4 years. I also think that before his eligibility is up we will have someone who has all those things and some things he doesn't have, height and more arm strength. Cody is great and I will support him 100%. I just don't think it will be his show for the next 4 years. JMHO.

I was listening to post game and coach hawk said he gave VERY clear instructions to Cody to only throw it if the receiver was wide, wide, wide open. If not he was to throw it out of the end zone. He definitely got away with that one. I think we will definitely see some growing pains with Cody this year.

For a freshman starting his first college game in a game with this much buildup, I thought he did great.

That was were he said 'I told if the reciever was not wide, wide open, then he should thtrow it out of the endzone., And the little poop still tried to fit it in there. He could have learned a hard lesson on that one'

Loved his Dad calling him a 'little poop' on the radio broadcast!:smile2:
