Collinsville H.S. (Collinsville, OK)

Ht: 6-foot-4

Reported Offers: Colorado, Arizona, TCU

An evaluation from about a year ago by Mark Lewis of Blue Star Media: (http://www.bluestarmedia.org/2015-big-state-flava-jam/)

"At 6-4 Mallory Vaughn has lots of tools to call on. The post for the Oklahoma PWP has had some solid coaching somewhere along the line which might have the 2017 poised for a big summer. She demonstrated lots of versatility in Dallas making plays down low, from the mid-range and even from the high post. On the catch Vaughn keeps it high and you can see her reading defenders leading to sound choices with the ball. Vaughn can create her own looks but is comfortable giving it up when necessary as well. There’s plenty of effort and active play on the defensive end but she’s going to need a more physical approach as she gets closer to moving on to the colligate level."

Looks like she is following CU coaches on twitter and has an offer from TCU as well as CU and Arizona.

Hopefully our WBB staff can close and get her to commit to CU. My thoughts on our competition:
- the previous staff lost on some recruiting battles with TCU. Reagan Pebley and staff are good recruiters and have better record than we do. Also TCU gives Mallory the chance to play some games closer to her home if that is important to her. That would be true of TTU also. I have no opinion on the TTU coaching staff.
- Kelly Rae Finley was Lappe's recruiting coordinator and she now has the same role on the new staff at the U of Arizona. So did she have a pre-existing relationship with Mallory that she is now using in her new job? Don't know but I expect it is likely true. We know she did with Annika Jank and Mallory and Annika visited at Arizona together. Neither the CU staff nor the UofA staff has a track record at their current school but Coach JR has a track record as a head coach who has turned programs around and successfully developed players whereas Coach Barnes at UofA is in her first HC job.

Texas Tech had a rough season last year. While they were 13-18 overall, they only won 4 games in the Big 12. Also only won one true road game.

TCU made it to the WNIT last season.

We know that neither CU or Arizona had good seasons last year.

I know the coaches are really high on Eleanor Jones, the 6'4" freshman from the UK arriving this season. So maybe Vaughn saw herself having a better path at Arizona.

Bummer for the Buffs. She looks to be the only post the Buffs have been recruiting in the class of '17.
