Not enough credit

I dont think we are giving the O enough credit for coming back from being down 11 points in the second half, thats a big number for a team that was 2-10 last year and would have folded like a cheap tent n the same situation last year.

The Offense this year is 1000% better than what we had going last year. Coming from behind and getting the 2pt conversion were huge plays for this group of young kids.

With all due respect to BJax, the kid played his heart out last year, I think Cody is going to be a huge difference maker this year. I'm sure he'll have his share of rookie mistakes, but he showed tremendous resiliency on Saturday.

That 86 yard drive was very impressive. I think they converted like 3-4 3rd downs that drive. Plus it took off like 7-8 minutes off the clock (giving our D some rest). Some of the 3rd down conversions were long ones at that (3rd and 9, 3rd and 12...).

Someone posted how important 3rd down conversions are for both the O and the D a few weeks ago. I think we saw both sides of that on Saturday.

To be fair, we were able to hold csu offense and then got a HUGE punt return. After the punt return, the O didn't really move the ball at all, and we got the FG. On the other hand, I think the O would have been much more productive if the D had been able to shut csu down in the first half. Time of posession was WAY in favor of csu.

Who is not giving the offense enough credit? Night and day compared to last year. Everyone likes to harp on BJax and Cody but other things were huge too. Offensive line play. Cody didn't have too much pressure in the game. Holes for RB's. RB's hitting the holes. Receivers running routes and gettng separation.

My only issue with the offense is the play calling. As others have pointed out, too many trick plays and not enough running. When the running game is getting nearly 5 yards per carry, I'd like to see more of it. WR end around once, maybe twice. Direct snap needs to just go away.

Another not enough credit item. Clock management at the end of the first half. Using the timeouts wisely to preserve the clock and give the offense a chance to put some points up. That was huge. The coaching staff got dinged for game management a lot last year. I want to give them kudos when they deserve it.
