Kick this thread off with the Herman to Baylor rumors. Really hope that is not true. He seems like a smart guy who passed on some jobs last year so why jump at that situation. Play it like Kirby Smart.

Why did the Mizzou AD jump into the Baylor cesspit? All about the benjamins?

Baylor needs to go back to where it came from and die, die die.

Some are saying Mizzou was glad to see him go but they might be in just as bad of shape as Baylor at the moment. No money, no president, no chancellor, and racist accusations in a sport and state dependent on black athletes.

I don't think Tom Herman is evil and stupid. He'll wait for a bigger spot than that.
I hope so, it would be nice to see him make a Peterson like move and take an under the radar job instead of waiting for UT or A&M to open up. Feldman and Mandel discussed it on their latest podcast but he is from California so I wonder where he wants to go with his next job considering there is no rush to get there when he can dominate and make $3 million a year at Houston.

Mizzou is probably the worst P5 spot for a coach or AD right now. That place was torn apart. And, honestly, it's not like they ever won anything before. They had a once in a lifetime coach in Pinkel and even he never won a conference title for them in the Big 12 or SEC.

Why the **** would the hottest coaching candidate in the country want to go to Baylor when UT and aTm (to name a few) will probably be open after this season? Not to mention the 2-3 SEC programs, 2-3 Pac 12 programs, 2-3 Big 10 programs, etc.

He wouldn't.
UT won't be open though, IMO.
Auburn might.
ATm will.
Houston is a good spot for him right now. Low expectations, $$$, talent all around you, nothing but upside.

They would have to fall very short of expectations for this to happen, IMO. Like 7 total wins or something. They have as much talent as anybody and quite possibly the best player in the country.
They almost fired the guy last year, but the buyout was the issue. This is their most talented squad since the 2011 one. The Hat is on the hot seat.

I guess my point was that, with the talent they have, they should be contending for a Playoff spot and NC, so as long as they meet, or come close to those expectations, that should be enough to keep him around. On the other hand, having that talented of a team and falling short of those expectations, is probably the reason he will get canned.

Both USC jobs will be open, in a few years.

Seems like a lull right now as most big time programs are either happy or in the newlywed phase.

I don't think Mora will be at UCLA long but I also don't think that's an upgrade. If Oregon struggles again...

You don't think UCLA is an upgrade for Herman or you don't think Herman is an upgrade for UCLA?

UCLA job has issues. Many of the same that we've struggled with, namely budget, faculty, admin support, and fan base. It's not s big enough step up unless he really wants to live in LA.

Fair enough. I don't know a thing about the inner workings of other program's ADs so I can't speak to that. With UCLA, I just see a program with a brand that is recognizable across the country, located in a recruiting hotbed, able to bring in top 5 recruiting classes any given cycle, has some good tradition and seems to be in position to make a Pac 12 Championship/Rose Bowl/Playoff run. If they had a top notch coach that wasn't squandering some supremely talented teams, I think UCLA could have been the premier Pac 12 program the past 3 or 4 years.

The Mizzou AD probably saw the writing on wall. The school president lost his job for basically doing nothing wrong, enrollment is down 25%, and now the school has been labeled with the perception that it has racism problems, all compliments of the protesters. And he reportedly wasn't well liked at Mizzou. Maybe he figured this might be his only shot at another P5 AD job at this time with an opportunity to clean up a mess at Baylor and possibly set the stage for his next gig.

it was beyond not being well liked... if he didn't quit he would have been fired... boosters even vowed to cut off the money to the AD until he was removed

The racism perception is due to protesters?

I would say that les miles seat is even hotter after Saturday's loss and how good bama looked with a freshman QB.

I heard some sec hacks on the radio - someone and Dickerson? - sobbing their eyeballs out today because an sec team (LSU) played an actual road game. They were suggesting that the AD be hung.
