Those two dropped TD passes hurt us, the Devils keep making dumb penalties.

It's part of the growing pains we will see this year with the young team. Frustrating game!

It's a good thing we don't play Appalachian State this year.

I was out of town for most of the game, so I listened to what I could on the radio until I got home late in the third quarter. It was 14-0 when I turned on the radio, and I thought we were doing well.

Then it seemed as if ASU could do nothing wrong!

I got home and turned on the TV TO see Hawkins having completed only 9 of 34 passes...terrible!!! Looks like BJax numbers!

I just hope we can score in the fourth to make it respectable. This sucks!

This loss hurts. But it is not the end. Hawk didn't get outcoached. Our players just got outplayed. I predicted PWilliams would have a great season. Boy was i wrong. ****! we should've beat these ****ers. We really need a running game. Badly.

I say Coach Hawkins should shave his muppet hair and glue it to Patrick William's hands as a reminder of what not to do. Then move on.

I was working and only saw parts of the game; what I saw was hard to watch; the D looked good early; not as bad as Michigan though

Just curious because I missed most of the bad part, would Hugh Charles have made a difference?

Is it the O-line not run blocking?

I heard the Buffs were back to their last season pass dropping ways, true??

only if he brought stickum for our wide receivers

Hugh would not have made a significant difference. The ASU Dline was getting sick penetration and with their speed all we would have see was Hugh bouncing it outside and running toward the sideline trying to "turn the corner" but never getting there.

The run block didn't work all night. Pass protection seemed better than last week.

As I said last night:

Do you know why this semester the Buff WR's signed up for upper level advanced particle theory physics?...because they knew they could drop it.

Even McKnight, who appears to be the most sure handed of the bunch, dropped one he shouldn't have. Williams was pathetic and should have been riding the bench half way through the 2nd qtr. On a brighter note, Celestine has some serious speed and looked like he could run away from anyone last night.

too bad he does not like to do it with the ball in his hands....

gotta make that chach!!!

he'll get it. just a bad night for the WR's.

:smile2:

****ing terrible performance by the Buffs WRs last night. I hope Kiesau is busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest this week. If Williams needs to sit, so be it. Someone has to catch a ****ing pass. Williams wasn't the only one dropping passes, but he certainly had more drops than anyone else.

Frustrating is a good word for that game. The 2 TD drops, numerous other drops, the late TD before the half, no running game. The offense certainly looked like **** after an impressive first game. That's another frustrating point, that you expect the offense to take a step forward after the first game, not a step back. At least the D looked better and they got some good pressure on Carpenter.

That was another thing. The Buff D was doing great against ASU early by PRESSURING Carpenter. Then once they backed off, thats when ASU came back and took control. Why change?

It goes deeper than that. When you get your first completetion and your first first down with 2:36 remaining in the 1st half you've got a problem. This team is young.

5 of CUs first 6 first downs were by penalty. That stat held up until close to, if not all the way to, halftime...

There was a reason I didnt count those.

5 of CUs first 6 first downs were by penalty? That's like backing into the Big XII championship game. Oh wait. Nevermind. :smile2:

I think the heat got to them and the lack of depth all contributed to CU not being able to maintain the pressure. If our WR's had caught those balls for TD's, we had 3-5 guys that could come in an rotate on the O-line, more LB depth, and the game was not at 100 degrees, then we could of won.:smile2:

Most of those will come with time; we are starting to get better talent, but it takes time to develop it. And will not have anymore games with temps like that. Will get some players back that can help us, and the backups will develop over time this season with lots of practices. We will get better, I still say 6-7 wins regular season. I think FSU is a winnable games at CU. Miami of Ohio should be a win. ISU=win. KU, NU, MU all possible wins at home. KSU on the road--well, I am not sure, depends on how the young team jells. Baylor, should be a good game but a win for CU. OU--I like Kool-Aid, but can't drink that much to make this game winnable.

The season will rest on beating FSU, becasue if we do that, then we just need to win one of KU, MU, or NU at home (KU is at CU, right?). I think we can do that. Oh yeah, think TTech on the road will be too much, but have been surprised before.

Erickson's teams at Miami and Oregon State have always been undisciplined and committed a boatload of penalties and apparently this team is no exception.
