Colorado Women's Basketball Roster & Schedule

Poking around I find that some schools have posted schedules and give us some of the CU dates. Plus what JackVcr provided in another thread:
11/11 at No. Colo
11/13 Air Force at CU
11/19 Kentucky at CU
12/7 Colo State at CU
12/21 Wyoming at CU

Like the additions of both CSU and Wyo
Me too. Just wish that they weren't both at home the same season because they'll both be away next season. But still glad they're on the schedule. Now to round out the regional "rivals" DU needs to get scheduled - in Denver. Makes for the easiest road trip for fans in Boulder.

CSU and Wyo were both away games last season. Maybe these are the second halves of the home-and-home pairs so that next season they could be broken up so one is home and one away.

Yea, I remember that the Buffs were in Ft. Collins and Laramie. Unfortunately they were both losses and that needs to be rectified this season :).

In the future I hope they are broken up.

According to Coach JR tonight, there is still one unsigned contract holding up publication of the non-conf schedule. She did say that there will only be 2 away games in the non-conf. Didn't say what the second one was. One is obviously UNC Greeley.
She also said that the 3 teams coming for the Omni tourney on Thanksgiving weekend will be Boston College, SMU and St Joseph's (of NY, she thinks).

BC. Too bad a former CU player is no longer on the coaching staff there. I know I saw on Twitter after Coach JR arrived that CU was looking for an away game in December.

Anyone want to update the current year schedule? I keep missing the women on the Pac Network this year since we rarely get a game thread going.

I think there has been a game thread for every game. See the one posted today on Air Force tomorrow night. Most of the games have not been televised as the conference season has not started. All the home games have been a live stream. An away game was on ESPN3, also a stream. Some of other away games have been on school websites. I am not aware of any games yet to be shown on the Pac 12 Network.

So now that we have seen our team as well as the results for other PAC 12 teams, any predictions for conference record this year? Last year we went 5-13. I'm going to guess 8-10. I think we are better this year due to inside play and rebounding. Lexi and Kennedy are a year older. Our post and power forward positions are clearly improved. We aren't as good at small forward due to replacing Haley Smith with a true freshman. On top of being improved, I don't think the PAC 12 will be quite as strong.

On the schedule, WA isn't close to what they were last year. We play them twice as well as AZ, WSU and UT twice. The main thing is our first 4 games includes WA, WSU and AZ in there. We open with ASU. If we open with an upset win, look out for a very hot start. 3-1 would be a great start. 2-2 is an absolute must.

Thanks CUoldtimer, for staring this conversation. I've been thinking about this for about two weeks . . . that is how the Buffs will fare in conference play? Thus far this season's team looks better than last season's. But of course conference play is where the rubber really meets the road, so the jury is still out.

The conference schedule sets up for the Buffs in some nice ways. They start at home with the Arizona schools and then travel to the Washington schools. In my book al four are winnable games. The Oregon schools come to Boulder this season while the Buffs travel to face Cal and Stanford. Six of the first ten are at home. Last two are at UCLA and USC. So it looks like the Buffs will need to get off to a fast start to have a chance at hitting .500 in conference play.

Thus far CU has struggled when the opposition makes the Buffs play "slow-ball" on both ends. The Buffs just really have a hard time defending for long periods and they go into scoring droughts when they are forced to use much of the shot clock. Will this continue to be an Achilles heel over the next 18 games?

I too think the Buffs will win more conference games this season than last, but I am not sure how many more. They have more talent and the talent fits what JR & Co. want to do in terms of pace. Let's hope that adds up to at least eight conference wins during the regular season.

Hoping for the fast start and that it gives the team confidence that can carry over to the other conference games down the road. Nothing like winning to do that.

Arizona's RPI is 335/349 so I hope given the kind of teams they have played, the Buffs beat them. Colorado's RPI is 53. Arizona State is 45. Washington is 108. Washington State is 44.

Defend the home court and then win on the road to get started.

It looks like I was a little too optimistic. Winning Sunday is a must to prevent a very poor season. It doesn't get more winnable than playing AZ on your home court in this league.

Looked at the schedule again. To improve on last year, we need to split the first 4 series. We did that this weekend. At the WA schools are next. Then the LA schools in CO (beat USC hopefully) then at AZ schools (beat AZ again). After that, it gets more difficult. I think we can get to 7-11 if we keep improving.
