Can anyone remember a team playing dirtier than ASU did?

What a bunch of undisciplined bunch of assholes. the last team that I can remember playing like that against the Buffs was Miami in 1993. Hmm, who was it that coached that team?

7 personal fouls is just ridiculous. That goes beyond playing a little to aggressive. Seems to me like this team is coached to play like complete douche bags. I've never really had an issue with ASU before, but as long as that slimebag of a coach is there, I hope ASU losses the rest of their games this year.

I applaud the buffs for not stooping to their level

That guy clobbering your kick returner was total bull****. He should have been tossed. I wonder if Erickson even got in his face about it, somehow I doubt it. I cant wait to see the likes of Cal, USC and Oregon mop the floor with them.

You should have heard the douche bag ASU fans behind me bitching after EVERY call against ASU.

At one point I turned around to them and asked them "You do know the rules ? Right ?"

KSU vs Auburn. KSU was unbelievable. I'm just hoping we get out of that game with only minor injuries if that's how they play football.

Yes. Miami played Texas in the Cotton Bowl in 1991. Miami won 46-3 and had OVER 200 YARDS OF PENALTIES. Most of them were personal fouls, late hit. Guess who the coach was...that's right, Dennis Erickson.

I went back and checked, 16 penalties for 202 yards. The Dallas Morning News report on the game said most were for late hits and unsportsmanlike conduct.

I remember that game with the Canes players standing on the bench taunting the UT fans and the coaching staff completely oblivious. I think the NCAA instituted some sportsmanship rules changes because of that geme.

I guess it doesn't matter when you beat someone's ass how many penalties you got.ala miami hurricanes

I personally thought Hawk was a little too congenial after the game at the handshake. if my guys are getting cheap shotted on punts like that i'd say something to Dennis (not that it would matter, but you just can't let that go....high road or not).

that last one on the punt with 2 minutes was a joke. straight dirty play on a meaningless possession exchange.

I can't stand Dennis Faggison. I can't stand the Idaho Vangals but you don't just abandon a team the way he did. He just up and left. Didn't even talk to his team.

That game also came to my mind right away. Another one involves, ironically, another Erickson-coached team. The Fiesta Bowl where Oregon State kicked ND's ass, where OSU must have had at least 10 penalties in that game and I seem to recall that a few of those were personal fouls.

Also what the Canes did is they lined up so when UT took the field before the game started, the Canes just stood there and gave them the stare-down, like some sort of intimidation tactic.

In the 98 Superbowl year, the Broncos played the Chiefs in Kansas City with a playoff birth in the balance. Yellow laundary was all over the field. Bubby Brister was starting in place of Elway. Schottenhimer wanted the win really badly.

There was over 230 yards in penalties between both teams, and KC had some personal fouls that just killed them. The Broncos won that game 30 to 7, and were very happy to leave Arrowhead. What a meltdown by the Chiefs.

I think playing dirty is part of the game but it can go too far. Delibarately trying to hurt someone bad enough to end their season or even take them out for several weeks is completely unacceptable.

Erickson is an asshole pure and simple. His OSU teams were dirty, and his teams are still dirty. ASU's coach before Erickson, Dirk Koeter let the team get away with to much also so they have had that mindset for awhile.

When I saw this thread the first thing that came to mind was that UT-Miami game, and lo and behold, two posters already referenced it.

When you pose a question like that and 3 people recall the same game 15+ years ago, that is really saying something about what went on that day. Butch Davis deserves a medal of honor for cleaning up that slimefest.

I actually do remember that game because I was with a bunch of Texas fans at a New Years Party with my Dad..

Slick Rick's CU teams did a lot of this **** too.. I think when you have slime-balls as coaches, this **** is condoned by them..Its almost like a Raiders image, Jerry Glanville Oilers image, etc,etc.. Erickson is a good coach and he'll do well at Arizona State but he just rubs me the wrong way in how he does things..

I doubt that had anything to do with Erickson guys...lol..that's just Florida teams in general they still think they're playing in the prison yard.

LUNCH TIME!

Remember the shot the Texas guy gave Joel Klaat to effectively end his college career?
