I'd imagine he is fully accountable. Just not in the press. Why the hell would anyone be quoted in the press admitting they did something badly? I sure as hell wouldn't. Especially if my job were greatly dependent on selling myself and program to recruits.
Sure he is accountable. But for the last 3 years he has put that accountability mostly on the players. He and Lindgren both do that. Never once heard him say the team was not ready and that's on me. After every game it was , Just 3 or 4 more plays and if the player would have done this or done that. Never once heard him talk about bad offensive play calling or scheme or play design.

This is a must win year for him period. Meaning bowl game.

Nothing to do with a savior. I just think the guy we have is a poor coach (actually a bad coach). I believe in any business when you come to the conclusion that you have the wrong guy you make a change.
I am kinda right there with ya.

He always talked about not having the experienced/mature players and that was his excuse the first 3 years. Now he has it.

He never talked about the poor coaching he brought with him.

2 years to get rid of that first DC
3 years to demote Lingren.

Well we will see. There are no excuses period. Not, injuries not coaching, not schedule, not nothing.

Fair enough. We'll get some clarity soon enough. We all just want to win.
We all just want to win. Yup.

"It's great," said co-offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren. "In previous years, sometimes it would be just one guy at a position that you had penciled in, and there really wasn't anyone else. Now we've got two or three guys at every spot that we feel can step in and play at this level and make some plays for us. That's a testament to what we've build and where we're going."

Gawd that guy is just like his hc

What percentage of the things he says in public and private do you actually see? And in the Denver media, how often is he even interviewed? And listen, I'm not happy either and will fully be behind a change if he doesn't succeed. I have doubts, as evidenced by my nervousness for the coming season, that he will succeed. But I think your criticism of his "accountability" is kind of sketchy.

Great paintings always start with sketches. If you missed all the comments blaming it on the players, not my problem. What he does in public does reflect on him and what he thinks. Take the following the official and screaming at him. Just how it works.

Listen better this year.

Mac is a good guy. Has yet to prove to me he is a good coach. This year or outta here.

MM took his coaching staff budget and brought in his SJSU staff at absurd raises.

Why didn't he take some of that pool and apply it to the recruiting resources he had to beg RG for as additional expenditures? I'm pretty sure those guys would have come for P5 exposure and 100% raises instead of 200% raises.

TLDR: I agree MM's sales job is not in line with all the realities.

MM's strengths are kids, values, building morale and ethos, identifying under the radar talent and day-to-day coaching. Even Todd Graham earnestly admitted that MM has done an awesome job of building a team with no real P-5 level talent that Graham and other Pac12 coaches have a real fear of losing to. He has good retention. you won't have a Baylor or Tennessee issue with him in Boulder.

He's been OK recruiting. The 2013 class was our nadir, and how couldn't have been. Every year since has been steady improvement...even before JL....but to compete in Pac12 we have to do better than OK.

Probs are managing and decision making. I don't like the way he seems to handle staff (maybe even afraid of hurting feelings). I don't like co-offensive coordinators. I don't like special teams by committee. I don't like demoting instead of removing. His teams are unprepared the first game of the season. I think he makes questionable game time calls. I think he crumbles in crunch time (when people blame Sefo for not being clutch, they should really look over at the sideline).

Some of these things he can learn to fix. Most coaches have a list of deficiencies and we could do a heck of a lot worse. It would be dumb@ss to bring in a whole new staff. To me it is more about comparing the opportunities of having MM with JL only around for another year, or having JL. Don't have an answer though.

I agree as well.

I am hoping the Buffs have a good year and get a bowl.

Mac2 has already put huge pressure on JMFL with his words. Several times. On his boy calling the plays? Not so much if any.

I am just not sure Mac2 can get the job done. Year 4. Mac1 did it. Gotta happen.

OT: I think you would really enjoy the documentary, Tim's Vermeer.

That's the one that Penn Jilette did about that crazy perspective painting no one could figure out, right? If it's the one I'm thinking of, it looked cool.

Close: Penn has a longtime friend named Tim (brilliant) who became interested in David Hockney's theories about Vermeer using camera obscura to create his remarkably tone accurate paintings. Perspective is mentioned, but it's mostly about tone. Any more would be spoiler territory.

The doc was shortlisted for an Oscar nomination. I give it my highest recommendation.

That's the way I read your post. Im not sure how Nik went off on that tangent.

As to the rest of it, either Rick George has more faith than you do since hes an insider. Or he's less of a leader than we hoped he is.

There are a lot of moving parts in be in a position of AD. I would not say he is less of a leader - he did a fantastic job getting the facilities built. He made the decision last year to keep MacIntyre and he is doing what he should do and that is supporting him and trying to make him successful. I think he would really like to not have to make a coaching change. I have no idea how much faith he has - I think we will find out.

At least he didn't go off on a cosine.

We have the most juniors and seniors since 2001 and most ever returning starts [412],” said head coach Mike MacIntyre. “We’ve built a team and that’s how you(we) develop a program from the ashes. You(we) get people to stay here to believe and compete and keep going. Hopefully they’ll (the players) rise out of the ashes this year.”

The above is Mac2 at is best. We...............We've.....................They.

Yup That is Mac2....."It really is"........"I really believe that"..............."I really do"

That is the real Mac2.

In a bowl or outta here.

HCMM's overall record would indicate another losing season. While I would be fine with having him ousted, there is a delicate balance of potentially losing players from a strong 2017 class. So, it's all-in with HCMM and hoping his assistant coaches can coach them up, recruit and sell what has become an even better place to play (and we already know how amazing CU is to begin with). I am drinking the Rise Kool-Aid.

The Vermeer purists didn't like it. Said it wasn't even close. Not really in my bailiwick.

Me too. Just don't like his style and how he most always deflects the accountability. And most always takes the credit. He is playing the press boys beautifully.

But me

Thats kind of what I meant. I think he had enough after last year to let him go and he didnt. I agree thats hes not agressive in that area. Maybe he is a fundraising guy and thats his stock. Well see.

I hadn't noticed this until a few folks on here pointed it out. Gotta agree...I'm not a Mac fan at all (he lost me after the Hawaii game). I don't give a **** if he stays or goes...just don't want the 2017 class to be blown up cuz I see it as crucial to the rebuild.

HCMM public persona is this nice guy who is working to turn this team around. He is the wrong coach for CU. He is a rambling drama queen and has no substance. He was unable to pull in a decent recruit until Leavitt and Chev arrived. I recently was told that he was the reason that Webb went running. Rick George needs to react quickly when the ship starts sinking. The high pitched lady-ish screaming on the field yesterday is not helping his cause. That over blown emotional outburst at the scrimmage caused several players on the defensive side to burst out laughing. He doesn't have the respect of his players, many of our position coaches are more suited and qualified to lead a team. He is leading warriors not high school freshmen, his game is all wrong for the guys he is leading.

It is public knowledge that Rick George was responsible for Leavitt and Chev hires and moving Adams to OL. MM is unable to make timely decisions and it shows with Coach Forman being retained for an extra year when it was well known that the players hated that dude.
I am excited for the team and all of the improvements Rick George made this year but don't have high expectations with MM running the ship into the ground.
