Yes I am drunk. But I think the coaching was good. But we were missing the execution. Wait till Hawk has his kids in the system. We will be un****ingstoppable. GO BUFFS!

Um, I ain't going to disagree that Hawk is the right man to turn things around but I think its a hard sell to give a coach an extension when he is 3-11... Hawk ain't going anywhere.. We can wait until next year and see where we are at..

my only problem with that call was the field position. If we would have at least been in their territory, I would have been happier about it.

Having said that, I do like to see those types of calls.

I think an extension now is a good thing. Mac wasn't doing well when we extended his contract. But the signs of improvement were there. Just like now. The signs are there. extend him.

hawk has nothing to lose by going for it there. i liked the call. our Buffs are a work in progress and you might as well go big and take your shots rather than turtling up and hoping not to get embarrassed. this stuff will pay off down the road.

That comment is just an echo coming way too soon after the Callahan thing. Let's get past the Mizzou game before this subject comes up again.

CU's performace on the field will help recruiting between now and November more than any contract extension. Hawkins has a personal need to succeed in the B12. He's not going anywhere now that Cody's career is just starting to bud.

Didn't Hawkins sign for a 5 year contract when we hired him? So he still has 3 more years left after this year?

I think it is a little early to extend him. I would wait until later in the season or even after the season and then give him a 2 year extension or so.

Did you like the fake punt call?

Absolutely. We just didn't execute it, it would have worked. Just like Patrick William's TD would have worked if he would have CAUGHT IT, or just like Kendrick Celestine's TD would have worked if he had CAUGHT IT! The buffs looked like a young team playing their first road game and they shot themselves in the foot by not executing. I'm not worried and think they'll play better vs FSU.

Sure, why not? They had to get something going. I don't know how DiLallo missed the open receiver, though. Holy ****, you don't get any more wide open than that.

DiLallo had a guy right in his face. I think he tried to loft the ball over that guy, plus probably got a little overexcited between the gamble and the pressure...

Hawkins is a pretty decent coach. Obviously coaching at Colorado is different than BSU but than man has very good coaching skills and philosophy. He may need to adjust some of what he does at CU than BSU. At BSU Hawkins and his staff are VERY good at finding "football players". Guys that may be a little smaller than you would want but aren't the whinny crybaby kids that some of these "five star" athletes turn out to be.

I like Hawk. I think he needs to recruit better, but his offensive scheming is proven and I think that with his energy and enthusiasm, he is a perfect fit in Boulder. I get really nervous when I think about what he could do in Boulder.

Hawk's gonna need a couple of years to really turn this thing around. Why? Because the O-Line is really very suspect and that position takes the longest to develop.

The CU athletic dept has certainly done dumber things. While I think Hawk is the real deal and would like to see him here for a while, lets not let him get to comfortable yet and have him crank out a few more W's.

Well at 1-1 you would hope that we would win two more out of ten. And the only way we can be worse than last year would be to lose 10 in a row. Not in our house!!!! Go Buffs!!!

Ehhhhh I dunno. His coaching calls sometimes are weird. Like was he telling Cody to just snap the ball and toss the ball immediately down field without looking? Like....10 times in a row?

He definately pulls together some interesting schemes. He did it very well in Boise. CU isn't used to that style yet. They'll get there and when you can do it effectively it scares teams and more specifically defenses to death.

Wonder if all the BSU fans will start saying 'Man, maybe we kept the worng coach!' (as they claimed CU hired the wrong one after last year)

I'm a huge Boise State fan and had no problem with Hawk leaving. It's all part of the game. I would be surprised to see Peterson leave anytime soon. You have to remember that before Hawk was Koetter and so you have three good coaches that have taken over Boise and three who knew the system really well. The system really helped bring out the good coach in them, IMO.

That was in referrence to the not-so-nice BSU fans that came here all last year doing the 'Suckers! We are happy that you took Hawk! We all know that Peterson is the real genius behind the system--suckers!!' ect. We wonder how they will be in a few years when Cu is back in the mix. Not to say Peterson is a bad coach--he is not, but I don't think that all of Hawk's success is due to Chris.

At first I thought this was a joke then I saw people taking your seriously...Notre Dame was quick to extend Charlie Weis. Barnett got extended after the 2001 season when CU won the Big 12 and went to a BCS bowl game. I want to see some evidence that Hawkins is the right choice...so far I have seen coaching have little positive impact on the games.

Yeah I can understand the annoyance behind that. The truth is that you NEVER know how well a coach will do at a new school. Like when Erickson went to Idaho they all had high hopes and thought they were going to make it to a bowl game and they sucked once again.

The BSU system works really well and so it is hard to determine how the coaches that leave there are.

So what you're saying is that only W's count? If you've not seen any positive impact of this coaching staff versus the previous two, then clearly you care only about wins.

While wins don't count for everything, 3-13 isn't pretty. Nothing about that record suggests an extension should be given right now. This conversation should be revisited down the road because Hawkins still has a LOT to prove. The fact that he's not Neuheisel or Barnett is not a great reason to extend him.

People want to talk about how much progress has been made with this staff, but I see gameday coaching that concerns me. We can talk about the talent all we want, but we're not 3-13 in Hawkins' tenure solely because of the dearth of talent-coaching has played a pretty significant role as well.
