Just wanted to set this up as a game thread for today's match. Hope some Allbuffians can make it out to the Keg.

Beat the Bruins Buffs!!!

Live Video-
For those who can't be at Coors, match can be viewed on the Mountain, Los Angeles and National Pac 12 Network channels, and streamed for those whose cable satellite subscription includes the Pac 12 network via http://pac-12.com/live .

Live Stats should be at http://www.sidearmstats.com/cu/wvball/

Aztec ... why are individual games in volleyball called "sets" ... or is it just this guy? It seems like they should just be called "games" ... and three games are a "match" ... right? To me a "set" is what one player makes to a teammate. A lot seems to have changed about the game since my rec league days in Ann Arbor. :(

But anyway ... Buffs take first "set". GO BUFFS!!

The components of a volleyball match are called "sets". It's been that way as long as I can remember.

Oh well ... if it's "always been that way," so be it. Makes little sense though ... in tennis a set is 6 games, and a match what, 5 sets for men and 3 for women? At least that makes some sense.

But then .. I go way back to the days when you couldn't score points unless you were serving. If you won a rally and didn't serve, that was called a "sideout" and you got to serve for a potential point. When did all that change?

Buffs come back from 17-21 to take a 22-21 lead, but end playing a few loose points late and go down in the set 24-26.

My college fan years were also during the 15 point era. Just from googling, looks like it changed in the NCAA ~2001 (after international rules changed in 1999). For those who don't remember, from 2001-~2008, games/ sets were to 30.

Buffs up early 7-2 in the 3rd. To UCLA.

YESSSS BUUUUFFFFSSSS!

Survive 2 set points against and win the 4th 28-26!

WOOT!! Way to go Buffs!!

I couldn't watch much of the 4th "set" (still stupid) ... too nervous ... but saw the last two points.

Gabby Simpson got her 4th triple double in a row. They held on to win that 4th set and not have to play the 5th set. That was fun!

It's nicer for me to be able to watch matches on the television rather than the computer. Happens more often in volleyball than women's basketball because the team is ranked.

Coach made good use of his green cards. He was correct twice.

Wanted to give a thumbs up to the crowd in the 1st few rows near UCLA's end line. I think it was them yelling their disapproval when a Buff serve was called long that led Coach Mahoney to make his 1st successful challenge.

Didn't get a chance to watch today. This is the first I've seen of the score. Wow!

I'm feeling a lot of relief with this win, too. Was afraid that this season was starting to unravel. Needed this win sooooo bad.

Looks like it may be that kind of year, with Pac teams knocking each other off left and right.

Note- for those who don't follow closely, the most notable thing in the Pac so far for general volleyball fana is probably that WSU, who I believe was something like 1-19 in conference in 2014 and ~5-15 last season, may be the class of the league this year, as they have already beaten the 3 favorites (Washington, Stanford and UCLA), with I believe 2 of those wins being on the road.

Wash State beat Washington at Washington. That is not supposed to happen.

Assistant Coach tweeted this, acknowledging the crowd on that call
