Does anyone else think not recruiting Jake Elway is a mistake?

Does anyone else think not recruiting Jack Elway is a mistake?

Here are my thoughts:

Jack has loads of potential.

There is no athlete more loved in Denver than John Elway. Getting his son to CU creates more fans because of his father.

Denver media dislikes CU. If we could get Jack Elway in a Buff jersey, Denver media would not take pot shots at CU, because of the wrath of papa E and his loyal fans.

Turn John into a coach, and the media becomes CU’s best friend and Bronco Nation becomes Buff Fans.

before they recruit him, they have to figure out who jake elway is? who is jake?

:wow:

Jack is going out of state and I can't blame him. He will never live up to what some people in Colorado want him to. That, plus I don't think that he is D I material, at least from what I have seen.

I don't think that it is a mistake.

I've seen him play and in truth, he's OK. He has a strong arm but his accuracy is suspect. It's always a possibility that he'll get some good coaching and turn out better than he looks today. My suspicion is that he'll end up at Stanford because that's where all Elways go to school. And that's perfectly fine by me.

I agree, he obviously has the bloodlines, and not taking anything away from him, but has not proven to me he's a big time QB. God knows he's under tremendous pressure, but he needs to lead Creek to at least the state title game to garner any D1 interest.

He'll have a tough time winning his game tonight. :smile2:

The number one team in the country, LSU, offered him

We know they are bunch of idiots.

I think were kind of crowded at the QB position right now. Not sure if that will last though. I dont put too much into HS play. Most high school teams have a serious lack of talent. If none of your guys can catch the ball you never put up good numbers.

The couple times I have seen Elway so far, he hasn't been too impressive. But he does have good size and, presumably, good genes. I can see why teams might take a shot with him.

But frankly, with CU being pretty well set at the position for a while, I would just as soon see them take a pass on Jack. Unless Jack appeared to be a can't miss, certified 5 star future all-American, I don't see any reason to invite the inevitable circus that would follow the coach's son and John Elway's son competing at the same position to town. I could see that becoming a fairly major distraction to this team, especially since you know the Denver media would finally Mapquest the route to Boulder and give us minute-by-minute updates of how Elway is doing, and raise all kinds of stink if he didn't become an immediate superstar up there...

No..... He looked awful vs Mullen and I didn't see anything that said Div 1 material.. If he didn't have the last name Elway, no one would be paying attention..

I don't know uch about Elway the younger but I agree it would be a circus with C-Hawk and Jack. We have Nick Lomax up here at BSU - he is still not mentioned as a potential starter in spite of his genes and size - so it takes more than a famous papa. Jack would do well at Stanford - family school and if he loses - what's new - hey they have brains and money who needs a win in football???

Of the little I saw of the BHS/Creek game last night, Cain Coulter looked like the better QB on the field. He has a lot less to work with and he throws a really nice ball and has good feet, too. Of course, BHS lost the game, but it wasn't because of him, that's for sure.

Keep an eye on Coulter. He's only a sophmore, but he has mad skillz. If he had any kind of decent line in front of him, he'd be setting records. As it is, he's usually running for his life trying to hit a receiver who will more likely than not drop the ball. :sad1:
