An other milestone for Dan Hawkins; first road win with CU.

Impressions from the game:

55yd Eberhardt FG at the half was the backbreaker. Taking the TO, then going for 3 was to bury the hatchet from last year's 3OT loss.

Highlights
1) Jordon Dizon interception return. One juke move away from a TD. It was nice to see the nation's leading tackler make people miss.
2) Hugh Charles laid down a pass protection block in the 1st half that flipped a BU defender ass over tit. Highlight reel material for sure.
3) CU rush defense. Solid.
4) WR J-Fly and Sprague ran some clean routes. The long ball to Josh Smith adds some excitement.
5) DiLallo nailed his punts, one downed on the three.
6) Sure is easier to breath with Wheatly returning kicks. Stephone had a nice return. Any time he catches the ball first, and then runs is a blessing.
7) Didn't see any bad snaps.

Things to work on:
1) Pass Rush: No sacks and not enough presure. Baylor QB had all day to throw and was scarcely touched.
2)More penalty flags than what's healthy.
3) Open field tackeling. #4 Gettis was burning the first and second defenders too many times. He came close to breaking loose 3 or 4 times.

Waco Experience:
Baylor fans were pleasant before, during and after the game. I saw zero drunken jerks and heard no trash talk.
A Baylor sorority girl came through the CU fan section twice collecting plastic cups as part of a recycling program. That was the most environmentally friendly gesture I've seen in a stadium since CU's pitching oranges onto the turf at Folsom.
Kudos to Mike Bohn, Misti Hawkins, the CU cheerleaders and the CU athletic department staff for coming to the pregame BBQ. Ladyblaise made it perfectly clear to that the next trip to Tempe should be in November.
Very cool to sing the CU fight song with the players after the game.
Good Times. Bring on the North!

:yeahthat: i would bet hawk will get their heads in line with their butts this week. the w was  yet a silver lining will have to be that we had the opportunity to straighten this out now.

 asu was a GREAT trip for our fans. we just need to see if we could arrange it so that their weather is more hospitable. flipside, i would like an opportunity to introduce them to some terrible snow. :smile2:

bohn said we will not have to have such hellish conditions again, and indicated that some home-home series will focus on cali in the future. i LOVE how he is aware that the national marquis games excite our athletes and recruits.

as for baylor, i will throw in that their facilities RAWKED. i have never seen a nicer restroom in a stadium before. i swear i walked into club level. then again, we WERE by the box seats...

i love their campus. damn pretty.

i love their bear, and his pool of ice. the kiddos loved how he could high-five.

i love their fanbase. they have an olive garden mentality, "when you're here, you're family." the people around us absolutely loved the girls we brought, and moved them by them to see the bear better, and to point out the bear mascot, their cheer squads, etc. those girls had a first class gameday experience because of that fanbase. they want to go to MORE games. that itself is an accomplishment, given how NOT into football most 9 year old girls are.

i love that about 15 bear fans appreciated that ubt was stuck carrying the doodle pony for the girls when we moved to the cu section. :smile2: they are all about family and kids.

i love that they let freshmen run on to the field before the game to form a tunnel for their football players to run through. i love how their student section and spirit teams show a ton of pride and heart.

i would return again. DEFINITELY. while their "blue hair" section is more sedate than most places, there are great things happening there. halfway through the b12 tour, i have to give the nod to okie lite and baylor for true aesthetic beauty and fan niftiness over the larger venues of okie and nebraska. okie is still about 1200times better than nu, tho. they have the ovals, more pomp, as much tradition. plus, they are not insanely arrogant.

That was a good win indeed considering the Buffs didn't bring their "A" game.

Thanks for the Baylor report - never been to a game there - but did take junior to their youth soccer complex multiple times. Ive found Texans to be pretty nice overall - only rowdiness that rivals CU "in the day" was at B12 championship in 2001 at Texas stadium. Gotta give Baylor fans props for being so nice with their team struggling - it would be easy to get pissy esp as they probably get no end of **** from Lahnghurns and Aggies in their daily life.

And unfortunately, most of that rowdiness was CU fans.... At least what I witnessed.

last night? the buff section was on valium. i had more fun with the baptists than i did when i went over in the 4th Q to be in position to hear the buffs sing the fight song.

i hate it when buffs are not loud. :sad2:

An interesting proposition came up at the Baylor game.
Every time a Hawaiian Buff does something spectacular, the CU fans extend the Hawaiian "Hang Loose" hand signal and yell "Shaka".

Dizon is good for 15 per game.

Not sure this will catch on, but it was fun to try out on Dizon's 35 yard pick return.

Nah, sorry, I was responding to the 2001 CCG rowdiness.

The pass rush has not been very good this year. I think the DT's have been playing well, but the ends really need to step it up. especially Mo Lucas. I think he can leave here among the best de's we've had in a while. but he hasn't really stepped up like i know he can. Come on Mo!
