Do you think any current buffs are legit contenders for any of the national position awards?

I think Dizon for Butkus and Wheatey for Thorpe should be legit contenders. Is there one for D-linemen? If so what about Big ole George?

Just trying to get some CU football talk going in here:thumbsup:

What about Tyler Polumbus? Not sure what award he'd get. But I expect he'll be looked at by the NFL.

Hypo and Dizon have a shot at some All-America teams(1st, 2nd or 3rd)..

They are defintely All-Big 1st teamers..

Wheatley and Nichols have had strong seasons too that should challenge for All-Big teams..

if they go on college performance rather than pro potential, then t-wheat and dizon both should be finalists for awards.

i am not so sure either are assured of being stars or whatever in the nfl.

dizon is too small for linebacker, imho, in the nfl. now, maybe he gets bigger with full time trainers and meals and all that. but, he doesn't have the size right now. and, he isn't fast enough for safety, i don't think. he's a classic tweener and as a result i doubt he'll be drafted very high. i hope he proves me wrong because he is all heart and a real gamer.

t-wheat has the scouts scared because of the wrist. this is going to hurt his draft position, fairly or unfairly. a healthy year this year will be a big help, but the scouts will still downgrade him because of the wrist. i think he has the speed and cover skills, but he might be an inch or 2 shorter than they want. i think he will probably play in the league, but i don't see him getting drafted all that high unless he finish out the year with monster stats.

so, i am hoping the folks who award those awards focus on what they've done in college-- they've both been amazing--- rather than on what they may do in the nfl...

if y'all finish the regular season 9-3 I could see Hawk perhaps getting coach of the year. 2-10 turned around to 9-3. that's gotta grab some people's attention.

Hopefully 4 and 5 star recruits attention--the right kind of 4 and 5 star kids. The ones with tons of heart, like we have now.
