Official 2016 Coaching Carousel

Lot of support for Cal to hire Spav. Hopefully they hire Wilcox, Spav feels slighted and bolts and takes Peeler with him.

I worry about Chip Kelly coaching in our conference. I think he can recruit and I think he can build winning teams.

I don't worry to much about Chip coaching at Cal. That administration is so messed up that even a good coach will have trouble building or sustaining success there. It will be even harder for Chip because he doesn't like the PR and fund raising part of the job and at Cal he has to overcome the administration to do that.

Isn't going to be like having Phil to sign the checks as long as he wins.

Phil Knight is doing everything in his power to buy a National Championship within two years. I would image that staff blows up after that.

They won't win a natty in the next two years. They probably won't even win the North in the next two years. I think Stanford and UW have that division locked up for the foreseeable future.

Not going to keep Nike from trying.
True. Uncle Phil will write whatever checks he needs to.

It will be interesting to see what happens after he's gone. Does he leave a half billion endowment to make sure the UO AD is always in the black?

I don't expect that Oregon staff to flop by any means, but they're pretty much working with a National Championship or bust bar. As @sackman mentions above, I don't know that they'll meet that bar.

Apparently Florida doesn't expect Cristobal to come there but he is still waiting to see if he can get one of the two open head coaching gigs. I am surprised that 1) he would leave Alabama to the opposite end of the country away from his recruiting grounds 2) Would say no to Florida where he has been for a lot of his coaching career and 3) Go to Oregon.

Arkansas State: Per source, with Dan Dodd off to Lamar, look for Blake Anderson to bring Maryland graduate assistant Kyle Cefalo back to fill the tight ends job.

Good for Kyle, seems like he has a bright future.

From FS:

Cal: Sources tell FootballScoop Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo has been contacted by Cal and is considered a strong candidate for the position. Several other programs have reached out to Niumatalolo over the past few seasons, including within the past month. None, so far, have been able to entice Niumatalolo to leave. Perhaps this will be the one… Will update as more is clear.

Cal going triple option? Please let that be true.

Cal running the triple option gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.
If they are serious about the reform of their academic standards for athletes - and a lot of evidence points that way - going to a gimmick offense might be the only way they can remain competitive on the field.

Georgia Tech plays in a P5 conference, and turns in winning seasons more often than not.

Of course, Cal would be essentially be giving up on any dreams of a MNC, but that was never really in the cards anyway, so would they really be giving anything up?

It would also remove them as a direct rival for many recruits in California.

Sounds like Iowa is not renewing the contracts for the their RB/ST coach, and also former CU WR coach Bobby Kennedy.
