Stop Blaming the Freshmen!

Cody Hawkins has been coached by his dad since birth so it's not like it's a freshman trying to learn a new system. He just got to start leading his team and making his throws. In Football sense, he is no frieshman.

The freshmen recievers are our best ones. they go up with no fear and play to win. They are hungry and do not play like freshmen.

Before Maiava and Miller played a down we had NO RUNNING game. That appeared only after the second quarter of the Miami of Ohio game when they burned thier redshirts and played. Maiava has been a beast and is blowing huge holes. He also has NO penalties, no sacks and only one hurrie so quit blaming the freshmen.

Blame the dumb play calling. we run the ball down KSU's throat and then go to the pass. Blame Hawkins blaming our running game. It's the passing game and dropped balls and poor throws and yes sometimes poor blocking but if Cody could run than he could probably cut the sacks down in half. He is not a drop back passer cuz he can't see cept to the sidelines or deep. Roll him out more.

Dude, freshmen make more mistakes than older college players thats a fact, when these freshmen get older they will learn to respond to adversity more effectively, and make fewer mistakes, thats what we are talking about.

I don't think that anyone is blaming the freshman. There are posters (me included) that point out this is a young team (cause it is). This is not a ding on anyone, it's just a fact. They made mistakes that young teams make on Saturday, penalties, lining up out of position on defense (according to Hawkins at halftime).

Everyone understands that the young players on this team represent a very bright future for CU.

I've critiqued our team in terms of the underclassman players. They have great coaching no doubt about that. What they need now is experience. Cody Hawkins has never seen speed like this. Maivia has never seen DLs that are as strong and as well conditioned. The level of play went up one full notch when these guys were put into a real game. No practice prepared them for it. It's up to them to grow and learn from here.

I am giddy when I think how good we will be in 2 years time when these players are Juniors or better.

I will just add to what these others are saying.....this is a young team and they are going to make mistakes but that is not the same as blaming them.

And as for Hawkins....he is a freshman. I don't care who coached and for how long, he is going to experience his share of growing pains as he learns to play the position and in a couple years he should be one of if not the best QB in the Big 12.

Uh..Oklahoma is a much better team than K-State.

You guys are just dealing with the same things KSU is dealing with, inconsistency amongst young players, and a new coaching staff.

I don't think anyone is blaming the Freshmen, now we can blame Barnett for forcing us to use these Freshmen, but I am willing to take some lumps to get them seasoned for when they are Juniors and Seniors.
