How mad do you get when you think about...

the fact that Bill Callahan is going out with a win!

hahaha!

that would not be good, I'm not sure he makes it to Boulder. I can't understand why their as bad as they are. They have guys that must have been highly recruited but can't tackle. I think it's cause BC takes that for granted, cause he was used to the pros.

I agree with most that think he won't survive to see the CU game.

That said, I think it's interesting that most NU fans think the last game that he coached well in, was last year's CU game. What did he run, like 15 trick plays?

I get sad thinking that T+1 will be Cally's last game coaching the ****ers.

After the extension, what's Cally's buyout? That said, I'll be amazed if he lasts beyond the Kansas game.

Many of those players were highly recruited. The coaching sucks. They have Vince Okruch as their DC. Their offense is not much better; they actually looked better when Watson was calling the plays last week. Scarry. :wow:

I'm willing to bet he gets the ax prior to the game in an effort to emotionally spur the team.

I dont see that. Those players have to be conflicted since they bought into Bill Callahan. A change now wiill not make things better. The conditioning and philosophy have to change and that will begin with spring ball and it will take a long time to sink in. Some players will quit over it.

A lot. $1.75mil per year until 2012. That ****er has a big payday coming whenever they do give him the boot.

That's not entirely true. Callahan is still under his current contract. The university would have to give BC 3 mil to pay off his extension.

If the kNU game is the difference between going to a bowl or staying home, then plenty pissed.

I heard its only 750,000 to buy him out of the contract and extension. They had a performance clause in it i believe. I'll look into it though.

incorrect. they do have a buyout amount specified. the 750k was delusional husker thinking. the amount will be between 3-4 million, depending on which month they have to start paying (it has to do with full months). it MUST be paid within 60 days of his firing.

EDIT: though it IS interesting to see the university considering getting out of paying the severance package byway of a lawsuit. personally, i hope they make that stupid mistake. it would make it a foregone conclusion that NO ONE (from an AD to the smallest assistant) would want to touch lincoln with a ten foot pole. linky to drama

cheer on fusker stupidity!

We lose to Nebraska this year, I will defintely be off the Hawk's bandwagon.. Imperative for us to win that game..

I disagree.

It doesn't surprise me that your being short sighted as usual. We are lucky to be where we are at imho opinion. We are still building for the future. We came into this season with huge holes at several positions. We are starting like a dozen inexperienced freshman (a nice future foundation thought). I see no guarantee that we will win any of the upcoming games. I do think we can win most of our upcoming games but I think talk of us going to a bowl is pretty silly. NU gets up for the game. Cally may be fired at that point and might put it to the players to get a win for him.

We won 4 games which was essentialy my goal for this team so anything more is peaches and cream. Next year or the year following I will be dissapointed if we dont beat NU at least once. If they bring Bo Pellini, as is rumored, they will be instantly better next year. NU is loaded with talent but poorly coached. A quick turnaround for them would not surprise me.

Actually there is cluase in the Neb State Constitution that makes severance, buyouts, and golden parachutes for public servants illegal. Several city of Elkhorn employees had severance deals that they lost when proactive citizens sued (think Douglas Bruce) after the city was disolved. In theory the law could apply to both Pederson and potentially Callahans contracts. The rub is whether the money comes from 'public funds' (what is and what isn't). To avoid this the money apparently has to be sourced from non public funds and it appears that NU plans to use their ticket License revenue which is managed by the NU Foundation to pay off Pederson. Obviously private money would be exempt as well.

I'd agree that if they do do that it would make it harder for them to attract a coach, AD, President, etc., if they could be terminated at will without cause.

1. i cannot disagree with your reply to jims.
2. i certainly do hope that they get myopic and get legal on the severance package. if they thought they have problems now, and if they thought the last coaching search sucked, just watch it when they petition against honoring a contract.

It is 750K for each remaining year on the contract which is 5 years so we're talking 3.75M plus you have to figure in the assistant coaches not to mention Pedey's buyout of 2.2M.
