Good:

Wow! NU played really well today. They should've probably given up and not played nearly as hard as they did. And I wonder, Coz scheduled a completely different game plan than normal. Did they play harder, or did they play the same, just diferent schemes. TODAY WE DISRUPTED, instead of reading and reacting. You could see today more of what we CAN BE. INstead of what the coaches coach them to be. There's no way on earth we're as bad as we were against Okie Lite, Mizzou, and A&M.

Bad:

God I wish we could've won!

SO CLOSE!!! AHHHH!!!!

I need another. Later allbuffs forum.

adios amigos.

god, I cannot wait for Pelini to get here.

with or without pedey, nebraska slammed a door on him. nu will not be the last to come calling with a head coach offer.

he would be better to ride it out, and get in a program that does not turn and eat their own after flacating them and offering a contract extension.

Not to bring you further down, but didn't the Charles kid rush for almost 300 yds?

in one QUARTER!

let me further illuminate the impact that cally leaving has on nu recruiting:

5 star gabbert: GONE!
4 star jonas gray: GONE!

4 star mohler: gone as soon as cally is fired. non negotiable.

4 stars compton and givens: looking at the door, and making verbal indications that they are gone.

it is suicide for husker fans to salivate over cally's loss, as his recruits have said they will bail.

oh the sweet irony.

5* Top Rated JUCO Player In The Nation Simi Kuli. Solid verbal to NU, "committed to the program, not the coaches". Will be a stud D-end for NU! Would rather lose some recruits than keep these clown around! Have a feeling he committed to a certain D-Coor. not currently with the team. Oh the irony indeed!

Here's the problem though. We can have all the 4 and 5 star players we want, but when the coaches can't coach they go to waste anyways. I would rather us get our coaching situation squared away and deal with 3 and some 4 star players than have all the 5 star and 4 star players we can get and have them go to waste on the bench. It sucks to watch talent go to waste. Good coaches can do alot with a little.

which "clown" (sic) are those? your coaches? the recruits leaving?

we will see how it shakes out. by all accounts, the stars are jumping ship. what has started looks like the tip of the iceberg. :smile2:

No doubt we will lose more and more as the weeks go on. I'm expecting it, that way I'm not surprised. The coaches have pretty much stopped contacting all of these recruits because they have no clue what's going on with their jobs. :wow:

I seriously doubt Nebraska will hire Pelini as head coach.. I'm guessing Nebraska will try to get a coach that has experience as a head coach in college... Someone like Paul Johnson from Navy, who would bring back the option/running game would be someone I think they would look at.. It will defintely be someone who is not a finesse, throat-slashing hillybilly like Callahan is..

Hate to bust your chops but the scheme was desperate. The Blackskirts have not been able to stop the run. So as a last ditch effort, they decided to blitz a running team all day long. If you can’t play your base defense most of the time you will get beat. (just like today.) I hope NU tries that on other teams in the Big 12, quick slants and fades will tear them apart.

As for recruiting, firing your AD before signing day was a big mistake. I wonder how many of your out of state recruits will be around if you don’t go bowling. Just because husker fans think Osborne walks on water, does not mean people outside Nebraska have the same opinion. Huskers see their savior coming to the rescue the program, others see a under achieving team grasping desperately for the glory days.

bob davie to the fuskers?

i was watching the game and he was announcing and it occurred to me that he might be a good fit for them-- defense first guy--- decent pr skills, etc.

of course, he sucked at notre dame, but they will let him get suspect guys in at fuskerville just like they did when he was d-coordinator at atm. that's what killed him at nd.

if he'd take the job, i could see him in stinkoln.

Word is he's on the short list for A&M. He coached there from 1985-1993, most of it as D Coord (back when "the wrecking crew" actually wrecked people). Just like NU, A&M's decline can be most attributed to it's decline in defense. It's a good year to be a coaching candidate. Several high profile jobs expected to be up for grabs.

What will the buyout of Cally cost? Also, I seem to remember the assistants at NU having two year contracts. Any # as to what will be spent to get rid of these guys?

I think I remember seeing a $3M figure somewhere.

woops, got a little sloppy last night.

y'all didn't hear that about you know who from me! Got it?

that's okay. we won't tell anyone what you say about the aliens either.

let's play a game called "what if".

"what if" nu offered and reeled in bo-p. the ins and outs of your texting coconut network are not the issue here. the important question is: "why?"

true, i see potential in him. however, one must question themselves - did his defenses REALLY stand out and dominate from start to finish? is he the walk-on-water savior that you expect?

comments?

Pelini would be a good fit at NU and do well. I also think he is pretty obtainable-- the only way he would turn down NU as I see it, would be if Miles was to bolt for Michigan and LSU offered him the job there, which is very possible.

However, I think Osborne is going to want to put another Nebraska man in place and reintroduce the power option to the land of corn. I suppose the argument could be made that Pelini is a NU guy, but Bohl and Turner seem to be more in TO's mold.

i agree he would do well. WELL being the operative word, which, by definition is not nearly good enough for the husker crowd.

therefore, he would likely do well, then be fired for it.

pelini was criticized while he was there. therefore, it baffles me that he is being held to this unrealistic expectation as a savior.

i want to hear why huskers feel he will walk on water for them to the extent that they think the hush-hush secrecy is worthwhile. why does it make them downright giddy?

a couple years ago, they mocked his fire for nu. they thought he could get bent, thinking HE was good enough to coach for the huskers. i was in the middle of nebraska when that all went down, so it made an impression.

You seem to forget that only 1 PERSON wanted Bo gone and that ****er was Pud. Bo is a guy who can relate to these kids. He turned around our defense in his only year being here. He made these kids believe in themselves. He coached up talent where we were lacking it. Now we got these two dumb****s (BC and Coz) who have a well talented team don't know how to coach them!
There is no way in hell Greg Bohl coaches here again. He is bad as Cosgrove is. It's obvious that BC does not know how to relate to kids as far as coaching goes. I also don't think that Bo walks on water, but its obvious that he knows how to coach at the college level!
