Time to regroup and win out

It's probably going to take 7 wins to get into a bowl this year. B12 already has 6 bowl eligible with us, KSU, and Okie Lite at 5 wins. If all three get to 6 that's one odd man out since the conference only has 8 tie-ins. Same story in a bunch of other conferences. Plus, they have the rule that bowls have to take all the 7+ win teams before they can take a 6 win at-large team.

Time to put yesterday's debacle in the rearview mirror and get back to work this week, Buffs. We need two OU/Tech type performances in the next two games. Our team is up and down, but I think they can do it.

I kinda wonder if they had to pick out of the three of KSU, OSU and CU at 6 wins to not go, they would pick Okie lite based off shedule and who each team has beaten. I thin Okie lite would be the odd man out. CU has beaten OU, and two other bowl teams. Okie lite got killed by troy and has two wins vs bowl teams.

Who knows though, maybe we win out and wont have to worry about it. Then again, maybe we do want to be the odd man out. KU was last year and look at them now!:smile2:

We'd have to endure an other round of "how well the fan base travels".

Assuming the Bowl game is in either the states of Louisiana or Texas, CU would take a knock based on $$$$

Totally agree with that statement. Unfortunately the bowls are only worried about money ultimately and they probably won't care who beat who. It will come down to who travels better.

sweet! a four win nebraska would get to go!!! :woot:

One thing that might help our chances would be if 2 Big XII teams make it into BCS games. Probably a good bet to happen if KU and OU would win out in the regular season. Or if MU would win out with a win over KU, they would have a good shot at making it...

If that happens, then the conference needs one more team to fill its existing bowl tie ins. We would probably be a virtual lock with 6 wins in that situation - there would be 9 conference teams going bowling, and Baylor and ISU are already out. The only thing that could keep CU out would be UNL winning out...:lol:

Agree, I missed the game as I was working and when I got home I had UW/Stanford, UConn/Rutgers. I was pissed but when my son who was at the game did not text scores after half I suspected the worst.

Time to gather and get ready for the rest of the season; not the leasst of which is Neb which could be a real test of two frustrated teams trying to save some pride in their seasons; never say it can't get worse - it always can.

When was the last time you guys played Notre Damn??? :smile2:

(And yes, I've seen the pictures of the red clad fans at ND Stadium - no need to show it again...):lol:

I think it was 5 years ago??? I think we might actually have a shot at beating Notre Dame............................unless they figure out how to pass and run?

North teams will always be at a disadvantage for the Cotton/ALamo/Houston bowls. all 3 will take a southy team (Tech, ATM, OSU) instead for ticket sales.

Are ticket sales really the issue here? It seems to me that these bowls would be more concerned with the advertising revenues their matchup is able to generate.

Maybe I'm just talking directly out of my backside here, but it seems to me that inking CU to a bowl is going to bring in more viewers than Kansas State or Okie Lite.

The network carrying the game (generally ESPiN) is going to be interested in the advertising ratings. But their money for the year is already locked in to a rights deal with ESPiN. I guess if they went to teams that nobody would watch year after year after year after year, it would affect that rights deal. But for all but the biggest bowls, their immediate concern is selling tickets - that is where they can increase their revenue stream most directly.

Plus, many bowls have backing from local business, chamber of commerce, tourism and convention bureau or whatever. Those groups want butts on planes coming into town and spending money...
