Just the facts...

-The Buffs were **** last year, they went 2-10.

-At the beginning of this season if anyone had told you that Hawkins would finish 5-7 or 6-6 we all would've been thrilled! THRILLED!

-The Buffs look pretty good early in the season and even rise up and beat OU! One of the signature wins of the program! Of course, this leads to every one of us thinking more of these Buffs than they really are.

-"Let's all rejoice, the Buffs beat OU and we're going to win out and win the Big 12 North." OK, 99% of us fell into this trap because we went from being absolute crap to actually surprising some people. We're all Buffs fanatics and we all see what we want to see and not what's really there.

-These Buffs are much improved, but they're still 2 years from really, REALLY contending.

In light of these facts let's all have a little perspective!

-STOP calling for Hawk's head or his asst coaches. Yeah, he's made some mistakes but so has the team. Hawk came here from Boise for chirssake! Not quite the level of competition he's facing right now. This is a learning process for him as much as it is for the rest of the team, he's still basically a sophomore. Let him get his kids in here and take these last two years and see what he can do.

-5-7 or 6-6 this year should turn into 8 wins next year. I'm not going to do the research, but going from 2 wins to 10 wins over the course of one season is pretty rare, and been done by teams with a lot more talent than these Buffs currently have.

-The Freshmen on this team, while raw, are head and shoulders over the majority of Barnett recruits, this team is going to continue to improve.

-The Buffs are what we thought they are at the beginning of the season, a 4-5 win team who may get lucky and get to 6 or 7 if they play their cards right.

We all WANT to see the Buffs as the cream of the Big 12 North, but they just aren't yet. I'm as guilty as everyone else. But if you sit down and think about it, all things considered, while this season hasn't been what we wanted it to be, this season has been what it should have been.

Agreed.

The game ended on a really, really ****ty note. We are all fans and I think most were expressing their frustration right after the loss.

We are definitely headed in the right direction though.

We are two and a half times better than last year, so if we can make that sort of improvement again next year then we will be 12 and 2 or 13 and 1. Sweet.

I am with you for the most part, but my expectations were higher I guess.

I expected 6 win minimum and low tier bowl. I thought 7 wins was very achievable. 6-6 I will accept. 5-7 is a losing season and not acceptable. We need to do better.

The OU win was a great win, but I was never convinced we would win the Big XII North because of that win. Even after that game I though KU and MU would be most likely be losses. But I thought for sure that KSU and ISU were games we should have won. Both of those losses really hurt.

100% agreement. Any new coach that takes over a program deserves at least 4 years before you call for his head. KU and MU are both programs that show what patience with a coach can do for you. That said, the criticisms are valid and pointing out the fact that Hawkins needs to get his **** together is acceptable. You have to judge the entire season, and the product of his work this year shows that he is being to "aggressive" in many of his decisions, and he needs to evaluate that during the off-season.

My expectations are again higher for next year. I expect him to have 9 wins and be playing for a chance to win the Big XII North. To early to tell if he can win it, but he needs to be in the race come Nov.

Just my thoughts.

:yeahthat:
What I expect:
Cody's TD/PICK ratio to dramatically improve.
Offense routinely put >30 points on the board week in and week out.
CU beats Texas in Boulder.
Winning record in the North, damn it.
The defense might take a step back with T-Wheat and Dizon graduating.

It's critical some big defensive lineman apply a pass rush next year. Also need some tall and fast safeties. Otherwise these spread offenses in the conference will keep hitting CU on the big play. Let's see how HAWK fixes that.
