I hate to say it...but one simple explanation for ISU...

Helfrich had a good game plan. However, Chizik and his D staff obviously figured it out at the half and then proceeded to jerk his brithces down and blister Helfrich's backside beet red. Helfrich had no answer because nothing worked until ISU went prevent....at least that is the way I see it...

I am now officially in the crowd who wonders if CH has the arm strength to get it done in D1. EVERYTHING seems to be < 20 yards downfield and thrown to the outside. Nothing but sideline, out, comeback and crossing patterns. Now that there is some tape, the opposing D seems to be playing tight with no fear whatsoever of a deep ball going over the middle.

That has always been the knock on Cody is that he doesn't have the arm strength to get the ball deep down field. That and he is only north of 6' tall with his inflatable shoes on. :smile2:

His game is effective if we are able to create passing opportunities by running the ball.

No doubt running the ball and a good play action game go hand in hand. One feeds off of the other. On the other hand, if the D never has to fear something going over the top, they can crowd the LOS and paly the run and short pass effectively. That appears to be what is going on now and has been the case the last few games. If that happens AND you have an OL that can blow people off the ball anyway, it can be dealt with...that isn't happening right now.

Hey LB, was that you at Chili's on Saturday watching the game?

Yeah I was there. Were you the one in the black visor? I thought about asking but would have felt pretty stupid walking up to a stranger and asking "are you BuffRocks?". I was afraid somebody might have gone Sen Craig on me.

Hahahahaha, yeah that was me, i was going to ask you the same thing but then I would have felt like an idiot. Too funny man. Well atleast now we know who each other is. You making it up to the Nebraska game?

I was just going to start tapping my foot under your table and saying LB is that you. Hahahahahahaha. Wait, that's ****ing gross, nevermind.

I'm not sure. Family commitments for Thanksgiving may squelch it for me. I hardly ever get to go the NU game now because of all the family stuff...oh well. Hope to run into you sometime down in Castle Rock.

Agreed. Pissed me off though because i don't know if you went over to Rockyard first to see if the game was on. Bartend said they didn't have that package so Chili's was the next call. Guessing you did the same thing. let me know if you're planning on making the trip for the fuskers and maybe we could carpool up or caravan either way.

Yeah I was at the Rockyard when they opened the doors. I had talked to the mgr. Jeff something or the other Wednesday and he said they had the game and come on down. When I got there, the gal behind the bar had no clue. I walked her through it only to find they did not have the right DirceTV package. I grabbed a phone book and started calling. Chili's was able to get the game so that's how we ended up there. If I can get thiings arranged to go to the NU game I'll post, but right now it looks pretty grim....

cody better not be our starting qb for the next 3 years. we're screwed. this bull**** about "well if we get a good running game.." is not going to cut it in the big 12 with texas and oklahoma, and now missouri being the big cats.

You have to have some kind of running game to be successful in the Big 12. At least most of the time. No running game and your passing game will probably suffer along with it.
