This is my best guess at what the roster will look like and what holes we need to fill this year in terms of recruiting.

WR (6 out of 9 returning from the current depth chart. Losses- McBride, Sprague and S. Robinson)
J. Smith Soph
McKnight Soph
P. Williams SR
K. Celestine Soph
C. Crawford Sr
Jarrell Yates Jr
Markques Simas RS-Fr

Pretty decent group of WRs returning, adding at least one if not two would be ideal. I'd like to see at least one 6-3 or taller WR in this next class

TE (3 out of 5 from current depth chart. Losses Devree and Sanders)
R. Geer JR
P. Devenney SR
N. Solder Soph
D. Shanahan Jr (wild card here. good size but has not seen the field)

Need at least one TE in this class

RBs (3 of 5 from current depth Chart. Losses Charles and Ellis)
D. Sumler Soph
B. Lockridge Soph
K. Moyd Jr

Need PT Gates to come in this spring (count towards last years class) and need D. Scott and Ray Polk to commit. That'd be a hell of a backfield

FB- (2 of 3 from current depth chart. Loss Jagoras)
Maurice Cantrell SR
Jake Behrens JR

Probably some place where you find a walk on for depth. No need to sign a FB prospect.

QB (2 of 2 returning from current depth chart)
C. Hawkins Soph
N. Nelson JR
M. Ballenger RS-Fr

Have one verbal commit so far, and I don't see another commit in this class.

OL (6-8 returning from current depth chart. Losses Polumbus and Harrison)
T- R. Miller Soph
T. S. Tau Rs fr/Soph TBD
C. D. Sanders SR
G. D. Head JR
G. W. Palazzi Soph
C. K. Stevens Soph
G/C K. Maivia Soph

G S. Daniels RS-Fr
G/T M. Iltis Rs -Fr
G/T M. Bahr Rs -Fr
C/G B. Behrens Rs-Fr
G/T E. Atkins RS-Fr

Needs probably 4-5 linemen in this class as well. The future of the OL looks to be in good shape.

Nice summary.

With Devan Johnson coming off a grey shirt (assuming he gets in), I think we'll be ok at FB, but if he does not come in, I'd like to see Hawk sign a true FB. If it doesn't happen this year, then in '09, we'd be looking at a Sr. (Berhens) and some H-Back/TE cross breeds. Against OU, Cantrell and Jagoras saw the field a lot. I like the flexability to run a power-I formation here and there with a bruiser in the back field.

Insert Buffalo30's rant here...... :smile2:

The possible depth on the O-Line next season is what makes me most optimistic. Not optimal, but definetly getting better.

Did anyone else notice that we actually lined up in a power I and wishbone a couple of times prior to shifting out of them? I loved that look, it says that we will play smashmouth try to stop us.

Totally forgot about Devan, good call. I think he can be a H-back/FB in this offense as well.

If not, I think he can play LB too. That wouldn't be bad considering our depth there.

I don't know. The last RB/FB that we turned into a LB did not work out so well. What was his name...Dizon or something?

Chance Blackmon ( a 6-3 WR yay!!) re-commited

Will Pericak looks to be the guy to fill this need

Gates will be here in the spring and Polk committed. Come on D. Scott, be a buff.

Tyler Hanson is committed and the Buffs may be able to get back on Nicj Crissman radar if Dorrell is fired.

Only commit at this point is Ryan Dannewitz at OT. Still need a few more big uglies.

A little concerned about the O-Line commits. Or lack of. Maybe its because last year at this time we had 5-6 verbals already.

According to Ringo's blog today, Deehan comitted. There's probably no hurry in deciding this, but I wonder if they keep Pericak on offense, now?

Not shooting the messenger here, but what Ringo posted in his blog is so irresponsible. He heard that Deehan committed but can't confirm? WTF is that? Dude's going to have egg all over his face should Deehan not be a Buff. Until Rivals or Scout actually talks to Deehan and can get confirmation, I'm not believing this rumor, especially from Ringo of all people.

There's a couple of RS walk-on O-linemen that certainly sound intriguing: The big kid Clark from Aspen and the tranny Freuchtel from Ore St. Might be something to those two to add in the mix,

I don't worry about O linemen and rec. stars since they usually need a couple of years of S&C to get them able to compete anyway---2* guys often can come in and help eventually.

It's a little late, but here you go...

Rant.:smile2:

And yes, the offensive line continues to build. I hope to see them in good quality and good quantity for years to come.
