Do we fire Mac?

After hearing his post-game on 850 I am convinced he's gone. Totally different postgame from anything else I've heard from him. Mark and Barnett gave off that vibe too. Buckle up!

My feeling exactly. He sounded like he was over it. Mad at his players. Mad at the school. Mad at any player who tackles his son.

I guarantee his agent was told to go after a job aggressively. Which makes sense.

He led the 2017 team very different than the 2016 team. No heart. No balls.

Thanks for getting us out of the gutter.

So I just looked up Les Miles recruiting class rankings throughout his tenure with LSU. (Which i do understand LSU and CU are completely Different situations so take this with a grain of salt) BUT Les' WORST rated recruiting class was his first year he was there in 2005. And it was ranked 14th nationally. Mac got us out f the basement.. kind of.. lol. But its time to get a coach that can get us to compete on a big stage!

Here's how he did at OSU (before he had a name and when they'd been a doormat for a decade). His first season was 2001, so the Rivals database can't give a comparison of where they were before his first class. His last season was 2004 before heading to LSU ahead of their 2005 class being signed.

2002: #25
2003: #15
2004: #37 (only 19 guys that year)

I just watched Macs post game presser on Facebook.

He talked about more than the 10 AM meeting Monday. He talked about a team banquet and what they needed to work on for spring and fall camp.

He still sounded gutless and completely lacking the fire or passion I've seen from him before.

My guess is he is gone and has known it for a while. But we'll know soon. Either way.

Props to Adam from Buffstampede for asking if he would have to make major changes after this failed year. Mac sidestepped that one pretty hardcore, but well done man.

I think you’re reading too much into the tone. Everyone was depressed including Mac, MJ and GB.

See. Les Miles would be an instant upgrade for us. I cant believe anyone here wouldnt be okay with a les reunion.. a coach who has won 2 SEC conference championship AND A NATTY CHAMPIONSHIP. Add a coach like this, along with our facilities that would send a message to recruits. I think a move like this needs to get done. In my opinion CU cant afford to make an upgrade like this one. Would be a huge miss.

If he’s gone, the Drive for 105 did way better than I’d thought.

I remember that 03' class coming in. Big time studs for Stillwater. Kinda gangsta paradisey but man they could ball. Coach Miles changed the culture in Stillwater from what Bob Simmons had. Polar opposites, but he definitely commanded respect. And to Coach Simmons credit, he had taken over a dismal program left by Pat Jones that was just struggling to win 3 games. To put into perspective how good of a recruiter Coach Miles was/is...that 2002 class followed a 4-7 season. Of course winning bedlam in Norman really helped boost that.

If the rumors are true, then I honestly feel for MacIntyre. He seems like a good dude who really badly wanted to succeed here, and it just hasn't worked out so far. As frustrated as we fans get, I can't imagine how frustrating its been for him, and the sideline tantrums and defeated demeanor seem to be signs of the emotional toll its taken on him. At this point, I really don't blame him for wanting to move on and getting a fresh start at a school where he arguably feels more at home. Plus at least at an Ole Miss he could count on administrators that actually want the program to succeed and wouldn't have to deal with lackluster fan support and half empty stadiums week in and week out as is customary in the Pac-12 and at CU.

Really a shame, but that doesn't stop me from wanting him to leave if its best for the program.

Just a little bit more fuel to the fire. Not saying to trust this post, but just interesting to hear so much of this rumor. Makes ya think/hope/pray the rumors are true!

Mikmaks best recruiting class was the 2017 class ranked 35th nationally on 247. Which after the season they had last year should have been a top 25 class imo. Thats what i expect from a top 25 program. Is a top 25 recruiting class, i think thats fair. If we had that same season but with Les Miles as our HC I guarantee you thats a top 25 recruiting class. Absolutely guarantee. Also i was looking at the so called hidden gems mike has found.. i think its very interesting when you look at the reason we were successful last season a lot the credit needs to go to embree. Because his last class before e got fired was LOADED with absolute studs! Mike has found oliver and ahkello. Ither than those 2 not really any other that stands out to as a stud that he recruited. I just am hoping so bad that our days with him are done and CU makes the necessary moves to compete with the best of the best.

I'm hoping MM decides to move on, but in fairness he has recruited some players who I think will turn out to be studs. He just chose not to play the young guys enough and didn't land quite as many studs as we'd all like. Winfree, Shenault, Nixon, Landman, as well as some other LBs and a number of our young OLs should be very good. And Lang as well. Julmisse is another super talented kid who would have helped a lot. Wigley looked lost out there.

Absolutely everything you need to know, to answer the question. From Oliver:
"I don't know if the week off was more of a detriment than it was a help," CU junior cornerback Isaiah Oliver said. "It kind of seemed like we didn't really know what to do offensively and defensively. We were trying to figure it out on the sidelines, different schemes and different things to attack them with, but it seemed like we couldn't really get anything to go our way, to go right. It's unfortunate for the seniors and for this team."

Part of me wants Mac gone, another part of me is tired of starting over again.
Is there truly a viable candidate out there that will come to CU?

With all this talk about Les Miles, how great would it be to take football so seriously at CU that we would fire a guy and pay him a buyout because slow start after a 9-3 season and dominating bowl win just aren't good enough.

Just a few ideas, some better then others.

Up and comers:
Dino Babers, Syracuse - Great offensive mind, great leader with high energy, would recruit in PAC 12.

Matt Campbell, Iowa St - Turned bottom Big 12 team from 3-9 to bowl game in 1 year. Young and energetic with a 45-29 coaching record.

Tony Elliot, OC Clemson - Has lead Clemson OC for 3 years, Named one of the top-25 recruiters in the nation in and one of the top-10 recruiters in the ACC in 2015 by Rivals.

Mike Norvel, Memphis St - Has kept Memphis St in top 25, top 10 team offense.

Retreads:
Jeff Tedford, Fresno St - Fresno St in MWC in first yr, great offensive mind, recruit the west coast.

Kevin Sumlin - 51-25 in SEC, Bowl game every year, Top 17 recruiting class every year

Les Miles- great recruiter, great record in SEC, CU ties

I think we have him one more year minimum. I hope we see a big staff wake-up and finish off the recruiting strong, go get a couple JC gap plugs.
I know it's not sustainable, but we need to win next season.
