When do we find out?

Heres the newest projections

http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions

I would rather go to Indy bowl, more exposure (only game on that day and not on nfl network) more interest from casual fans playing a program like alabama than we would get playing indiana and it would be better to beat an alabama as opposed to indiana just for the psyche of our players.

I don't care who we play as long as we win and have a winning season..

I think we find out on ESPN at like 4 PM Pacific tommorrow or something like that..

ESPiN has a Bowl Selection Show from 6-9 mountain tomorrow night where all the bowl matchups are announced. I'd be pretty surprised if something doesn't leak before then, though...

I have liked the idea of the Buffs going to Tempe, because there is a fan base there and the travel is easier, and it would be a good way to start living down the "don't travel well" talk for the future. But the fact that the Indy Bowl has a better time slot and TV deal (Sunday night and ESPiN vs. Monday afternoon and NFL Network) and because Bama > Indiana as an opponent, I'm hoping for the Indy Bowl now...

I'd say go with Independence b/c we aren't going to travel well to either game. The travelers already made their trip to Tempe and no one is going to Shreveport. We might as well get the better time slot.

*cough* insight *cough* barring something crazy *cough*

Not so fast my friend... The rumor is that we will go to the Indy bowl to play Bama because if we went to the Insight the Indy Bowl would be Okie State and Bama which would be a re-Match from last year.. and you know NCAA wouldn't have any of it..

just going with what my source told me this week.

either way the insight.com picks before the independence, there's nothing the independence can do about it, they get last pick.

we would get more fans at the insight bowl because of accessibility (frontier flies direct to phx from dia) and the strong alumni base in that region; i would go to that game...

our fan attendance will be low at the independence bowl because you can't get there from here without flying into dallas or houston and driving to shreveport (unless you fly some ****ty second rate airline like united or something...); but playing bama in the southeast region wouldn't hurt our recruiting...

i vote for the insight.

do i get a vote?

Beating a Nick Saban led Alabama team could have a windfall of potential recruiting success for us. We will get wayyyyy more exposure with a win against 'Bama in a football game, the only exposure we will see if against Indiana will be some small talk about the Hoosier basketball team.

The Socal alumni would be out in droves if we were in Tempe. Mark my words. But from the looks of it, we wont get that chance. **** Oklahoma State for stealing our slot

OK, you just made my Natty Lite list, bitch!!!!:smile2:

After reading the Daily Camera they seem pretty certain it is Shreveport.

Post article this morning said the same thing.

But after the discussion in the BCS thread, maybe we shouldn't be ruling out the Texass Bowl quite so quickly... :sad1:

What is the allure for the Insight to take Okie State over CU?

Boone (nose) Pickens $$$$. I heard where he, or someone else close to Okie Lite has guaranteed that if the ticket allotment isn't sold, they will purchase what remains. May just be a rumor, but sounds to close not to be.

Go Buffs!

For Okie State's case it better be, I believe the Big XII has a rule against lobbying for a bowl game over a conference mate. So if Boone is offering up money to go to Insight.com it'd be against Big XII rules.

What is the allure for the Insight to take Okie State over CU?

I'm not sure it's all the Insight making this decision. The bowls and the conferences will usually work together to try to keep all their "partners" happy. The Independence Bowl reportedly doesn't want OSU again (had them last year, matched against Bama who is apparently going to be back). If the Insight doesn't feel strongly about CU over OSU, they may be willing to consider a request from the conference to take OSU in order to allow the Indy Bowl to have CU and avoid the rematch.

Aside from that, I can't imagine why a bowl would want Okie Light over CU, unless they travel better (and I'm not sure that would be true for a game played in Phoenix)...

The Independence does not want a rematch of last years game, they will take Alabama because of the enthusiasm for Nick Saban but want a different opponent. The Bowl director was even quoted as saying that he thinks it would be great to see Ralphie run there.

I agree. They do not want OSU again. They will take UA because we have a crowd that travels and they have casinos so all the Baptists who vote against a lottery in Alabama can get their gamble on without the other deacons seeing them.
