Sorry guys. You just keep trying to convince me of something that I don’t believe.

Clearly, it’s critical to many of you that I share your beliefs. I am heartbroken to inform you that your opinions mean nothing to me. I won’t try to convince you that going from dead worst to somewhere in the middle is progress. I won’t try to convince you that getting better is good. I won’t try to convince you that we still have a ways to go, and that we will definitely not get to where we want to be in one year or six. But by all means, please continue to try to prove to me that somehow this program is headed in the wrong direction.
Hello?? Anybody home?!?! Think McFly, think! Nobody cares if you share the same beliefs about the program. If you post opinions and make assertions like you have on a fan message board, you're going to get some responses, regardless of whether or not you've acknowledged you're in the minority opinion or care what we think. I'm sorry you feel like a few posters engaging in discussion with you is oppressing your views and opinions.

As I've said, this year is a tipping point for MacIntyre.

If he wins, his last 3 seasons win totals after the bowl could be 10, 5 and 7-9 or something.

If that happens, we'll be talking about how he averaged 2.67 wins a year over his first 3 years and then averaged around 8 wins a year over his next 3.

That would make anyone reasonable very happy with his job performance.

The other side of that is that if he wins 4 or 5 games this year then 2016 becomes a major outlier and it would be hard for anyone to be all that enthusiastic about where he's taking the program.

Improvement at CU is a tallest midget argument. RG has outlined expectations. I agree with them. Do you?
I do not disagree with them. All I disagree with is the amount of time needed to get there. Correct me if I’m wrong, but did RG put a time frame on when those goals were to be met? It seems to me that you want 9-win seasons starting right now. I, OTOH, am thrilled with 2016, disappointed in 2017, and am optimistic for 7 wins in 2018. If we get 5 wins, I may begin to have some reservations regarding this staff.

Yes, those are the second of the three year goals for Athletics released last year. There were three football goals. MM has already missed one, and despite what you may think about his improvement, is in no way on trajectory to fulfilling the other two goals.

He’s improved. No doubt. But he’s not on the path established by RG for football.

Surely you do not argue he is on the correct trajectory for the latter two goals given wins to date, recruiting, staff, player development, game day decisions, leadership.

I think you confuse "goals" with "minimum job expectations".

An argument requires me to want to convince you of something. I’m not trying to convince you of anything.

I have more confidence in RG than I do in anybody around here, though. If he comes to the conclusion that replacing MM is the appropriate move, I will not argue against it.

No confusion at all.

Performance is and should be measured against goals, not minimum job expectations.

Never seen performance measured against minimum job expectations. That creates mediocrity, not excellence.

No. A goal of winning the Pac-12 in the next couple seasons going unfulfilled does not mean you fire MM.
Got it. Makes sense and I would agree with that. Although, one of RG's "goals" is making a bowl game every year. In today's college football landscape, that should absolutely be a minimum job expectation, no?

Was that so hard to communicate via written words? Thank you.

Exactly. The goal every year is to win the Pac-12. We will not win the Pac-12 every year. Goals, when well designed, are aspirational and very hard to ever attain.

Yes. A bowl game should be a bare minimum type expectation.

Of course you’re free to your opinion, but I disagree. Building a program takes a lot of time. I’ve seen progress. Sometimes it’s two steps forward, one step back, but the trajectory is positive, IMO.
That said, we will learn a lot about MM this year. I would be concerned if we don’t win at least 6 games. Figure we pissed away three games last year that were there for the taking. That can’t happen this year. There’s less margin for error.

Was that so hard to communicate via written words? Thank you.

Did you not read that first post or was it too vague for you?

That’s not the goal. The goal, as articulated in the plan, is to win at least one P12 championship in football between 2017 and 2019.

That’s a SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound) goal.

The other goals are:

Receive at least one NY6 bid between 2017 - 2019.

Receive a bowl bid every year between 2017-2019.

MM (and RG) have missed one goal already. They are not on trajectory for either of the other two in my opinion.

I suspect MM has additional intermediary goals to achieve these SP goals.

If the Buffs win 7-9 games in 2018 and 2019, two of the goals will not have been met.... and MM will still have a job. Context still matters.

Context indeed matters. Goals matter more, IMO.

He wins 7-8, but ends up with 4-5 conference wins, meaning he has moved the program to mediocrity in seven years with no sniff of winning the P12 and no where near a NY6 bowl.

Respect it if that’s what you and others want and/or will be satisfied with. That’s a failure in my opinion.

my expectations long-term for the program haven't changed for decades.

i expect a winning season every year and a bowl appearance.
i expect to challenge for the conference title every few years and land in some major bowls.
i expect to win more bowl games than we lose, but not by a wide margin.
i expect every so often-- maybe every 5-7 years, to win the conference and be in a legit conversation for the playoffs/national championship.
i expect to always be in the top 25.
i expect to always recruit in the top 25.
i expect it all to be done honorably and with regard to academics.

yes, i have been disappointed a lot for a few years. lulz.

Here! Here!

The words “CU Football” should command respect, admiration and/or fear amongst the opposition.

Visiting teams and their fans should depart Boulder with pangs of regret for the unfortunate plight of attending some place inferior, that is if they can find an available seat in the stadium.

Amongst the CU faithful, “Colorado Football” should conjure great pride, fantastic tails of conquest, epic victories with national relevance, and countless fond memories of legendary elite athletes.

Glory, Glory Colorado.
CU knows no defeat.

I don't think 5-7 seasons are financially tenable for the AD. Reason one is that I don't think mediocrity within the PAC12 will drive football attendance to where it needs to be. Reason two is that we put a lot of money into facilities and it has to show some kind of ROI soon. That reality alone will force MM out if he keeps the program were it is.

I saw a video on youtube today that had us struggling to win 4.

That guy was smoking pure crack.

I think this is an interesting year. This si the year Montez has to grow and solidify his position or Ty Lytle will be jumping to the front of the bus.
This is the year where we see what our RB depth/future looks like. will Bisharat become what we had hoped, or will he settle in as a special teams
player and third down/blocking back?
This is the year to see if what Mike has built is sustainable.
This is the year to get back to a bowl game and prove it to everybody.

This is the year.

Southpoint released totals for 129 of 130 teams a few days ago. Y’all scoffed at me for saying 4.5.........

Southpoint has the CU total at 4. You can currently risk up to $1000 at normal juice on this total. That number will go up over the summer as there’s more market liquidity.
Not all of us. The Buffs have won more than 5 games once in the last decade. I don't know why anyone is shocked that, from a national perspective, the Buffs are predicted to finish like they have 9 out of the last 10 years.
