Official ****braska Hate Thread

oh, the old racist playbook eh???? seriously? OK, all is well. They were hoping for another "3 n out" #GetAClue

I think we can agree that diversity in the stands doesn’t match diversity on the field for either of our teams.

Who knew anyone could consider the boneyard’s 3 n out hand signs to be controversial before last week?

Bottom line is that it was a heck of a game and the future looks bright for the Huskers but it might not bear fruit until 2020...Frost looks like he's off to a good start with the culture within the Husker locker room but he's going to have to cross his fingers and hope that he has a healthy QB by season's end. Maryland had to go through four QBs last season in the B1G.

We can show those Husker fans some class and then they will be actually forced to show class because it will kill them if we are better than them at anything including classy fan behavior. They are still our Big 8 brethren and I'm going to root for all of them including the Huskers. If you don't like that...GO SHUCK YOURSELF!

Go husk yourself! My favorite teams are still as follows:

1. Colorado
2. Whoever Nebraska is playing

Can we all agree that this boneyard **** is stupid and the "Blackshirts" should have quit being a thing years ago? Like when they quit being able to stop anybody?

Arizona doesn't still call their defense "Desert Swarm", Wazzu doesn't still say "Palouse Noose". Only the Nubs would wear something into the ground like this.

"Hey, our defense is the Blackshirts, baby! Sure, we gave up 62 to Colorado, 70 to Texas Tech, made Melvin Gordon the all time single game rushing leader in three quarters, and gave up over 150 points in our last three games last year, but it's early September and we're back baby!"

@Alfred91 there is nothing in sports that makes me laugh harder than seeing random college or HS players “throw the bones,” after making a play. Every single time a Huskers fan sees it, they all have the same response: why is player A from team B throwing the bones when they aren’t Huskers?!

Because that’s how irrelevant you guys are. No one cares anymore.

I will say it now. Troy wins vs nubs and especially if martinez is hurt and doesn't play. nubs will have a let down while overlooking troy. troy has some talent, can run the ball, and their defense swarms. Book It.

Seems like being a Nub fan is like being a member of a cult.

1. Obey proscribed behavior in public in order to foster a beneficial image of the cult to outsiders.
2. Give the cult all of your spare money - or even money you don't have to spare.
3. Indoctrinate your children.
4. If someone says or does anything that makes the cult look bad, band together to viciously attack. If these attacks can be anonymous and done in a way that doesn't negatively impact the public image worked on in #1, that is preferable but it's not a big deal because you can always spin it as a few bad apples who don't represent the cult.
5. Never give credit to competitors that show superiority because that could lead cult members to waking to the lies they have accepted.

L Ron Hubbard was born in Tilden, Nebraska. True story.

Kept rewatching “the tackle”. Callier didn’t even roll/twist. He was laying face down on the ground holding Martinez’ legs.

I need clarification here. One, helmet to helmet and targeting are two separate calls right? And can a penalty for either be assessed after the play if one wasn’t thrown during the play? E.g. when Shenault was hit helmet to helmet? Is it only targeting that can penalized after the fact.

I could be wrong, but I think the personal foul is not what is reviewed. Penalty is penalty. What they review is whether to eject the player.

Ditto on the question.

My take is that Shenault was a runner on the play that barely got the first down. I’m guessing runners have different rules than defenseless receivers.

Seems like we’ve seen PAC-12 officials call helmet to helmet more liberally in years past.

Targeting can be booth initiated now. Doesn't have to be called on the field. Targeting involves intentionally hitting above the shoulders in the head or neck, or striking an opponent with the crown of the helmet. If targeting is called on the field the booth will review the play to determine if targeting occurred. If confirmed, the player is disqualified. If it is overturned, the penalty is wiped away. If there is another associated foul on the original call, such as late hit, roughing, or defenseless player, the personal foul would remain regardless of the targeting call.

Thanks, Aero.

Correct - the personal foul for UNNECESSARY ROUGNESS was not reviewable. In the judgement of the official, the hit should never have occurred - could have been his legs, waist, etc - the play was over and the defender wasn’t playing the ball.
As for targeting (of which helmet-to-helmet is a subset), that IS reviewable. I.e. Shenault’s blow could have been reviewed. Additionally, the review can be initiated by the replay crew even if a penalty is not called. The nuance comes in when deciding between a defenseless player vs a ball carrier making a football move.

If you hit a defenseless player above the shoulder pads, it’s a penalty. If you hit a ball carrier above the shoulder pads it is not...UNLESS it is helmet to helmet.

Nik is partially correct.

They cannot overturn a PF on review. If targeting is called though the play is automatically reviewed to determine if it was in fact targeting by the rule or just a regular PF. The booth can actually call down for a review and look for a targeting which they can't on a regular PF.

If on a booth call a targeting is assessed then of course a PF is applied with it but other than targeting the PF is strictly a field call.

The other exception is that they can go to the booth to determine who was involved in joining a fight or throwing punches.

Both cases involve the potential ejection of players from a game.

Blow me. I will always root for anyone playing cornholio!
